Fox Knives

The Fox Yaru is another collaboration with Jesper Voxnaes and is similar in design to the Suru, with a more aggressive design. Despite its compact design, the lightweight Jesper Voxnæs model shines with its excellent versatile ergonomic design that can accommodate various handle types and sizes. The powerful curved blade has ball bearings and a flipper opening. Titanium screws and a milled and anodized titanium pocket clip adorned with a zirconium ball complete the design. The blade is made from CPM-S90V and holds up well under use.

Frame Lock

A frame lock is a special type of locking mechanism used in one-handed knives. Knives equipped with this mechanism are called frame lock knives. The frame lock closure system makes it possible to open and close a knife with one hand.

The main components of a frame lock knife are the riveted handle scales and the blade. One of the handle scales of a frame lock knife has an L-shaped notch at the bottom that begins just below the front of the handle scale and runs across approximately two thirds of the handle length. The scale section partly separated by the notch is curved slightly inward.

The locking mechanism of a frame lock works as follows: While the blade is closed, it is held back by the partly separated section of the handle scale, which exerts inward pressure. When the blade is opened, this part of the handle scale moves inward, locking the blade. Unlike the liner lock, which has a separate locking plate covered by the handle scales, the frame lock is part of the handle itself.

The name of this locking mechanism is derived from its construction, because it is the frame that creates the lock. The handle scales of a frame lock knife are usually made from particularly hard metals such as titanium or stainless steel, because these materials offer adequate resistance to the blade when the knife is used.

Flipper

A flipper is a tab on the blade pivot used to open a pocket knife. The tab sticks out from the handle when the knife is closed; once opened, it also serves as a small crossguard. In order to open the pocket knife, the index finger presses down on the flipper, pushing the blade out of the handle. This opener requires smooth blade movements usually achieved with washers or ball bearings. With some models, you still need a flick of the wrist to fully open the knife.

Pros: Weight, Ease of Opening, Handle Material, Pocket Clip, Blade Material
Cons: Lock Ease of Use
Super stiff lockbar & lock stick
Great design, and it’s a pretty burley design for a smaller knife. Bought this because I love the aesthetics and I like smaller knives for edc. It’s great S90V and holds a beautiful edge. Unfortunately, the lock bar is extremely stiff. This causes pretty significant lock stick. The surface on the steel lock bar insert is very rough and the spot that it locks up on the blade leaves a lot to be desired. All these issues result in a pretty stiff bar that’s tough on the finger to unlock. I was hoping for more considering what this knife cost me. I’m not returning it, but gor $350 I shouldn’t have to modify the knife to work as intended. Don’t buy this knife unless you absolutely love the looks and enjoy tinkering with brand new knives.

Pros: Blade Sharpness
Cons: Lock Ease of Use, Pocket Clip
Sharp but a few technical design issues
Great edge retention, nice design, but VERY stiff lock bar, with a little ceramic bearing that blocks the blade when we fold it, which defeats the purpose of easy folding in movement it was designed for…
