Morakniv

The Morakniv Amberg Compact is a sleek, purpose-built fixed blade from Mora's Amberg series, designed for those who want a more portable companion for day trips, hiking, fishing, and camping. Built on the same solid construction as the rest of the Amberg lineup but scaled down to a 3" Scandi ground blade in Sandvik stainless steel, the Compact offers good corrosion resistance and an edge that's easy to maintain even in the field. The ground spine is ferro rod compatible, making fire prep straightforward, while the thoughtfully reshaped, flatter handle profile accommodates a wider range of hand sizes and grip styles than Morakniv's traditional designs. Light, well-balanced, and finished in nature-inspired colorways, the Amberg Compact comes with an ambidextrous Click-On sheath that secures with a reliable click-lock and mounts to belts, bags, or compatible accessories. Made in Mora, Sweden with over 135 years of knife-making heritage behind it, the Amberg Compact is a capable, no-fuss outdoor knife for those who want Morakniv quality in a smaller, more pocketable footprint.

This is a terrific knife. Love the design.
Dislosure. I did not buy this here. But I have one of these and it's really nice. 1. These Amberg handles are truly something different from Morakniv. It's the most comfortable Mora handle I've experienced (And I have a good number of their models)--with the exception of the Bushcraft Black, which is the most comfortable knife handle I've ever felt/had/used. But this is right up there. I have medium tending large, but say large medium hands, so pretty normal size I imagine. And this handle fits my hand better than some of the other Mora models. It's comfortable, grippy, and well made. 2. Blade is very nice. To Mora customs, it comes very sharp. It is NOT their higher level stainless steel (14C28N) it is 12C27. That is a steel that will hold edge less well than the 14C28N but will be super tough and take a very sharp, smooth edge, that you will need to touch up a little more often. The knife is thinner like the Eldris and very slicy. 3. Case is nicely made. Solid click/retention. People have remarked on why it's as long as it is when the blade here is shorter. Probably just economics of them not wanting to make a separate shorter sheath just for this. However, it may also be to change how the knife rides. A blade this short with a regular size handle in a sheath of this design will be a little top heavy, and the longer sheath might compensate for that. 4. The color is nicer than the image here which is somewhat lame. It is a nice, lighter toned, desert sand color. You could call it khaki. Handle and part of sheath are darker tone and main body of sheath is lighter. Would blend in well with desert camo colors military uniforms tend to use.Did I need this knife? Well, I have plenty of knives. I will find many uses for this. A comfortable, great utility knife. I really like the handle and the size of the blade and the whole idea of this knife. It's going to be just right for many things.
