GB6079: Gator - Clip Point, Partially Serrated

Gerber

When Gerber debuted their line of Gator folding knives in 1991, they were voted "Most Innovative Knife of the Year" at the Blade Show. The handle is made of glass-filled nylon and it's covered with a rubberized alligator skin texture for a tacky, comfortable grip. The lock-back clip point blade has a serrated edge and is forged from 420HC stainless steel. Sheathed in a heavy-duty nylon case, the Gator is still one of Gerber's most popular folders.

Update
An update on my review of 2013.Going on 25 years and this old knife is still kickin'! Been used and abused, lost and found again, dulled and sharpened over and over and still does its job. For the price, I don't think you can beat it.Still needs a hole in the blade for opening, a lanyard hole would be good too.

Solid Product
Used one of these since '94. At work, on the boat. Have used it for near everything,(including as a pry bar and a screw driver). It's not pretty, but it takes a real beating. The grip is great for cold wet hands. Needs a stud or a hole in the blade to make it easier to open. I keep a Gator II as a spare in the truck.I would replace it with the Gator II, except the Gator II sheath is too stiff and bulky. The price is such that if it goes overboard I wouldn't be devastated financial, just very unhappy about loosing a good tool.

Big solid knife
Big sharp blade that's easy to resharpen. Very comfortable handles. You can't carry this one in your pocket because of the size but the sheath is decent. Very good value.
