GTIDLF: Delta Lock Folder

Gingrich Tactical Innovations

From the innovative mind of Justin Gingrich / Gingrich Tactical Innovations, comes a sturdy titanium flipper with a new, incredibly strong mechanism, the Delta Lock!

The centerpiece of this new blade is the patent-pending Delta Lock. Whereas a traditional frame lock only engages the tang at a single point, the Delta Lock forms a V-shaped cutout that interfaces with four different surfaces on the tang, preventing movement in any direction and creating one of the strongest setups we have seen here at KnifeCenter. You feel it in your bones when this knife locks open - truly vault like with no blade play. When you are ready to close, it is as easy to use as any locking liner or frame.

Another bonus to the Delta Lock - the point of the tang that rests in the bottom of the V doubles as a glass-breaker when the blade is closed, adding a fearsome dose of aggression to this knife.

The BD1 stainless steel blade rotates open with smooth and repeatable action from the flipper or dual thumbstuds. A broad drop point profile promises versatility and hard-use durability.

This blade isn’t all action either - the titanium frame is plenty stylish with a dimpled finish. Not only does this look great, but it also adds texture for increased traction without being uncomfortable. There is certainly plenty here to hold and this knife won’t get away from you in hand or in the pocket, especially with the robust clip for easy carry.

Pros: Ease of Opening, Handle Material, Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Weight, Pocket Clip
Beautiful craftsmanship, excellent lock, super heavy, very poor detent
I was so pumped to get this blade but when unboxing I lost my excitement. Very heavy, 7.5ozs for a 3.25" blade with no internal milling? One of the poorest detents of any knife in my collection. Barely a shake to deploy the blade, not good for blade retention within the handle. Pulled it out of my pocket and the thumb stud caught the pocket and deployed like it had the Emerson wave feature, again... very weak detent. Thumb studs work great but without a bearing system, the flipper takes a good wrist flick for deployment. At this price point they could've used at least S30, S35, but should be 20CV. CTS-BD1 is a good, midgrade steel but not at $225. Packaging is beyond plain to say the least, again... look at the price, $225. Blade grind is good and came EXTREMELY sharp. Very well built and very good fit and finish but mine had a small ding on the spine of the blade that should've been caught during it's final QC inspection. Very well centered and I love the T10 hardware on ALL the screws. Excellent lockup but has an extremely thin locking liner. Very odd for such an over-built folder. Blade jimping does not grab, thumb just slides over to the spine of the blade. I know this sounds like a bad review and I love the look and feel of the knife but so many cons versus pros. I understand that it's a new innovative locking mechanism and it's in the over-built, heavy duty realm of knives but this should be in the $150-$175 range for what your getting. Sorry knife enthusiasts but I will sending mine back for a full refund just for the ding on the spine alone.

Love this knife
This is a wonderful EDC knife. Beautiful aesthetics and ergonomics with textured titanium scales. The handle is tall but not wide so it comfortably fills your hand. It fits easily in pocket. Pleasantly heavy feel, not a lightweight. Good flipper action with a sweeping bellied Blade. The locked blade is so solid it almost feels like a fixed blade due to a new 4 point locking mechanism. A small protruding glass breaker at top of knife when closed does not catch on your pocket or cause any issues. It’s a part of the locking mechanism. Overall very pleased with this knife built for heavy duty but good looking for EDC.

If you love titanium...and lots of knife real estate...
This is a distinctive design. The Delta Lock does give a rock-solid lock-up. The handle is fairly slim for such a substantial, hefty knife and yet has unusual depth, making for a really good grip. The diamond texturing on the titanium is beautifully-done and effective. The blade—also of significant depth—is almost completely enclosed within the handle. The detent is very confident—the only possible downside is that it can take a little extra pressure to flip the blade. The unusual glass breaker shape and location was initially a concern for my pocket but it hasn’t been an issue. All-in-all, an impressive, commanding piece of innovative design. Hope to see more from this maker.
