KS1660GBLUBK: 1660GBLUBK MagnaCut Leek, Blue Gradient

Kershaw Knives

Looking for a Leek that won't get lost in the grass? Take a look at this blue gradient Leek.

The brilliant blue of the anodized aluminum handle is a fade-resistant, scratch-resistant dye that's permanently bonded to the aluminum—so it looks good now, and will continue to look good later. The business end of the knife is a task-ready 3-inch blade of CPM-MagnaCut stainless steel - that's right folks, CPM-MagnaCut on a Leek. This high-performance steel enables Kershaw to make the Leek's blade razor sharp out of the box and helps it hold that edge, too. The modified drop-point/Wharncliffe blade shape makes it a good slicing knife, while the slim tip gives it excellent piercing and detail work capabilities.

Whether you're left-handed or right-handed, it's easy to open your blue gradient Leek with SpeedSafe assisted opening. A simple pull back on the ambidextrous flipper blade protrusion or push outward on the thumb stud and the Leek's blade is ready to go to work. For safety, a locking liner keeps the blade locked open during use and a Tip-Lock slider locks it closed when folded. The pocket clip is reversible for tip-up or tip-down carry and the handle is drilled to accept a lanyard.

The blue gradient Leek is a slim, easy-to-carry design that gives you plenty of cutting versatility—and good looks.

Features

  • Flipper - May be used on either manual or assisted opening knives. The "flipper" is a protrusion on the back of the blade that the user can pull back on, or flip, in order to move the blade easily out of the handle.
  • SpeedSafe® - Assists you to open any SpeedSafe® knife quickly and easily with a manual push on the thumbstud or pull back on the flipper; built into many Kershaw best sellers.
  • Liner Lock - Locks the blade open during use; one side of the knife's steel “liner,” the steel plate to which the handle scales are attached, moves into position behind the blade to securely lock it open.
  • Reversible - Pre-drilled holes in the handle enable the user to change either the tip position or the side on which the knife carries.
  • Made In The USA - When you see this on one of the knives, it means it was made in their Tualatin, Oregon manufacturing facility by skilled Kershaw knifemakers.

Leek Review
Handy little knives to carry. This one, however had the lock poorly assembled and I had to remove the screw and reassemble it properly with the correct tension. Apply a little lube.It works fine now, but the lock is a weak point in the design of these things.I bought this one for the Magnacut blade.Overall, I'm real happy with it.

Premium steel at a reasonable price
I already owned an early version of the Leek, which I liked a lot. It feels very comfortable in hand and the blade shape is quite useful in some situations. Overall, it's an excellent knife for light and medium duty work. I bought the Magnacut version to try out the steel. I haven't used the knife that much yet but the Magnacut is, in my opinion, a premium steel. And Kershaw doesn't demand an exorbitant incremental price for the upgrade, like some other manufacturers.

Beautiful
I'll admit, I bought this pretty much solely because of the colors. It is quite beautiful and I even ordered the red/black one shortly after. Only real con, which is more specific to me, is that it is small. My hands engulf this thing.
