Lansky Sharpening Angles

  • 17° Angle - A severe angle reccommended for razor blades, X-Acto blades, scalpels or similar tools. Provides an extremely sharp but delicate edge.
  • 20° Angle - A commonly used angle for higher quality blades and provides an excellent edge for kitchen cutlery and filet knives.
  • 25° Angle - The recommended angle for most knives that need a durable, sharp edge. Ideal for hunting and outdoor knives.
  • 30° Angle - An outstanding angle for knives that see the heavy use of cutting cardboard, wire or carpets. Recomended for heavy duty use.

poorly made
I have 2 of the deluxe kits, one I bought about 15 years ago, and one I just got recently (2022). The quality difference is night and day. The clamp in the new kit is absolute garbage, won't hold anything other than the smallest of blades. I can tweak the rods to make them straight but there's nothing I can do with the clamp.

High Value Sharpener
I purchased the "Lansky Diamond Deluxe" system for my pocket knives and was very pleased with its ease of use and performance. The only downside that I have found was that the system locks you into 4 specific sharpening angles which can be limiting as some knives will not align with the tool.The Apex system offers more versatility but at the downside of increased cost.Overall the Lansky system is a very high value sharpener in any of its configurations. Highly recommend!!!

Except for the curved blade set,I have all of the lansky stones,best sharpening system.I have used lansky for a lot of years,and i’m very happy with them.
