LTWBCHCSM01: Bushcrafter HC, Saber Grind, Black Micarta

LTWK have made a change to the Bushcrafter HC. Instead of fisheye bolts, all future knives will feature stainless steel pins instead. We will update our photos as soon as they are back in stock.L.T. Wright Handcrafted Knives

It isn't often that you can find a full-sized American handmade knife for around $100, but that is exactly what you get with the LTWK Bushcrafter HC. Through the use of select materials, this classic Tim Stetzer design is now the perfect way to get a handmade knife on your hip today and it still has the capabilities (and lifetime warranty) to tackle any adventure.

The versatile spear point blade is a bushcraft classic. With a length just under 4-inches, it lends itself well to nearly any task, from woodcarving to skinning to drilling. The edge itself is convexed and is finished by expert sharpeners. This adds durability to the edge and helps it perform well for woodworking, skinning, food prep, and slicing, while the spine of the blade features a crisp, 90-degree angle for scraping or striking a ferro rod, also known as a fire steel.

The saber grind on the HC features flat geometry and offers a good trade-off between strength and slicing capability on this thinner blade. Likewise, the choice of 1075 carbon steel is preferred over 1095 due to the increase in toughness, meaning the blade can be thinner and cut more efficiently without sacrificing strength. To help you care for the blade, LTWK has applied a mottled patina to the steel which can protect the blade from more damaging rust, although you will still need to oil and take care of it properly.

The comfortable handle on the Bushcrafter HC is shaped by hand to remove any hot-spots and provide hours of comfort under hard use. With a broomstick-style handle, this is a knife that will fit just about anyone. The single finger cutout functions as a rudimentary finger guard and helps index the knife in the hand very well. The scales are secured to the tang with stainless steel pins in addition to high-strength epoxy, granting durability that will last a lifetime.

The knife would not be complete without a sheath, and the included JRE Industries leather sheath makes it easy to carry the Bushcrafter HC. Retention is good, and there is a ⅜" diameter leather loop on the side to facilitate easy carry of a fire steel. Additional rivets allow versatile lashing options. The sheath can be used with the included dangler attachment for drop-leg carry. If you prefer your knife to carry higher on the belt, you can remove the dangler, or simply fold it underneath and out of the way.

Easily my favorite.
This knife is a very good value. It fits my large hand well. It's a compact knife, but full size. The patina on the blade is very cool and makes this my favorite knife. It wears off with hard use, but is fun and easy to reapply. I'm on my third patina job in like a month. The edge is ground a bit thick for such a thin knife, but it's easy enough to modify it to suite one's taste. Mine cuts very well after massaging the edge a little. I carry and use this knife every chance I get. Highly recommended.

Product misrepresentation-beware
The knife that KnifeCenter sent me is NOT the one represented in the picture. The handle bolts have been changed by the manufacturer from the fish eye type to a more basic alloy pin. The craftsmanship of the actual knife is beautiful, but I don’t appreciate KnifeCenter misrepresenting what I was actually going to receive. I will not be buying from them again.
