Randall's Adventure Training has been designing, marketing, and selling survival and military-style knives since their first survival courses in the Amazon Jungle of Peru. One of their first designs was the RTAK which was built by Newt Livesay's Wicked Knife Company before Ontario Knife Company produced the design. ESEE also produced and sold the RAT skinning/survival knife made by John Greco and the RAT Laser Strike knife made by TOPS (ESEE has since re-introduced the Laser Strike as an ESEE knife). Randall's Adventure Training also designed the following knives for Ontario Knife Company: RTAK II, TAK, RAT-7, RAT-5, RAT-3, Model 1 folder and the Model 2 folder.
The Ontario RAT Model 2 from Randall's Adventure Training is a scaled down of the wildly popular RAT-1. It's another folding EDC knife that can withstand hard use and abuse associated with hunting or survival tasks. For the money, there might not be a better knife on the market that can match the performance of Ontario Knife Company's RAT Model 2. It features an ergonomic handle with smooth action and rock-solid lockup. The four-position pocket clip allows the user to customize their carry method to their liking. We absolutely love the off-set blade from the handle, which gives this knife a rare and unique look that distinguishes this knife from all the rest. If you are looking to add a new knife to your EDC rotation (or you think it would make a great fit for a survivalist, hunter, backpacker, or friend), rest assured you're making the right choice when you go with an Ontario RAT Model 2.

Ontario RAT Model 2 Folding 3.0" Satin Plain Blade, Coyote Brown Nylon Handles
This is the second RAT2 that I have bought, after being impressed by the first. I checked all of the pro's and zero cons. This knife meets our state laws for blade length. It arrived razor sharp and has kept iter s edge well. I started out just adding it to my EDC rotation but it quickly has become number 1. The other two contenders are Buck 112 Ranger Slim and a KaBar Dozier. These are great knives also, and I'm sure they'll be carried again. This knife has a super fast opening with just using the thumb stud, that I think it rivals even the assisted openings that I own. Overall I rate the RAT2.

As an EDC, the Rat 2 is a sharp, comfortable, fast, easy to pocket knife. The handle and blade are impeccable. I love the Coyote Brown scales against the plain blade. What a value! Perhaps I should simply say I have bought 6 of these for myself, my son, and friends, and I am not one to waste money.The blade release assist is great for arthritic fingers. Fastest of any knife I own.
