OP001804: N09 DIY Folding Knife, Yellow

Opinel

The Opinel folders are classic, no nonsense pocket knives that just work. This N09 DIY Do-it-Yourself model is more functional, better looking and has more cutting power than any of its predecessors. This folder features a robust 2.2 mm thick 12C27 Sandvik blade with a sharp serrated area for cutting fibrous material and fiberglass-reinforced polyamide handle with two built in bits. Includes flat screwdriver for 4 mm screws and Phillips-head for 3.5 to 5 mm screws and a magnetized bit holder. Two bits conveniently store in the side of the handle. This knife is small enough to be used as a pocket knife and its locking 3.15" blade is large enough for most cutting tasks.

Tools

  • Wire Stripper
  • Wire Cutter

Safety

  • This knife features the Virobloc Safety ring. The Virobloc safety ring was invented and implemented in 1955. This simple yet effective locking system greatly improved the original knife. The ability to help prevent the blade from opening when closed was added to the Virobloc in 2000.

Better than my Swiss Army
I've had Swiss Army Knives with the phillips head that sticks out perpendicular to the rest of the knife, and more than once found that position problematic and it sometimes closes when being used. The flat head as part of the bottle opener also tends to try and fold up when being used. The Opinel takes care of all those issues with the placement of the bits on the end, no folding, easier to use, way more efficient. I've not needed to use the wire stripper and cutter yet. The main blade is a good size and was quite sharp out of the box. Love Opinel knives, wish I had known about them sooner.
