The lightweight Manix 2 has arrived and is drawing praise and winning accolades, including Blade Magazine's 2010 Most Innovative American Design.
Like its G-10 handled counterpart, the lightweight Manix 2 features the Ball Bearing Lock. The lock operates around a free-floating ball bearing contained inside a custom polymer cage. The ball bearing's round shape allows the lock to self-adjust across a large surface ensuring smooth and consistent lock-up every time it is engaged. The Ball Bearing Lock is engineered to be self contained meaning there is no need for internal liners to support it, allowing the folder to be manufactured liner-free and extraordinarily light weight.
The translucent EdgeTek FRCP (fiberglass reinforced co-polymer) handle is semi-opaque dusk blue with a series of jimped areas molded around the handle's perimeter. Additionally Bi-Directional Texturing covers both sides of the handle scale making the folder better for gripping in wet or uncertain conditions.
The blade is made from BD-1N Carpenter steel. BD-1N is gaining the attention of knife enthusiasts for its high carbon and chromium content that is rust-resistant while offering enduring edge retention. The blade is flat-ground with spine and choil jimping and an oversized Spyderco Round Hole.
An ambidextrous, tip-up wire silhouette pocket clip and screw-together handle construction make the folder user friendly with several and carry options.

Not crazy about the rivets but...
A great knife spoiled by rivets holding the scales. Otherwise an awesome knife but any personalization or modifications are muted here. I know Spyderco says that any disassembly voids the warranty but who adheres to that? An otherwise great knife reduced in quality by a cheap manufacturing process. Stop this Spyderco. PLEASE.

Another Homer For Spyderco!
This is a truly great quality piece with a multitude of uses. The quality is typical Spyderco which means that it is top notch in every respect. The Blue Translucent light weight scales are very unique as well as attractive, practical, grippy and comfortable. The ball bearing spring release lock is a wonderfully designed. This lock is very strong and comfortable to use All in all really a great purchase as a quality EDC,a tactical carry or as a unique addition to a personal collection.

Kudos Spyderco
The Manix 2 Lightweight is a great addition to my Spyderco collection. Feels great in my hand. Razor sharp right out of the box. The Manix 2 LW looks lager than it actually is. Its a shade larger than the Tenacious and a shade smaller than the Para Military 2. What is most impressive to me is the weight just 2.92 oz. The knife is also ambidextrous, so you lefties will have no problem opening and closing it. All in all the Manix 2 LW is well worth the price.
