ESEE Knives

Since 1997 Randall's Adventure & Training has designed no-nonsense, affordable field knives specifically targeted to military, law enforcement, and the special operations community. Many of their knives now serve in combat zones around the globe. The knives have a "no questions asked" lifetime warranty. ESEE Knives is also setting the standard for many local, state and federal law enforcement officers when it comes to high performance, compact sheath knives with multiple carry options. The NTOA scored the 3-inch fixed blade a 4.77 out of a possible 5. In addition to knives, ESEE also offers survival, land navigation, tracking and other training courses along with free survival information.

The ESEE-4 is one of the most popular ESEE knives ever made. With its 0.1875" blade thickness, it's the perfect blend between toughness and cutting efficiency all in a small package. If you can only choose one, then the ESEE-4 is the do-all workhorse of the ESEE line. These knives are made from high carbon 1095 steel. And while 1095 is a top choice for professional cutlery designed for hard use, it will rust and stain if not properly cared for - especially on the cutting edge and around the laser engraving. It is the user's responsibility to keep the blades properly lubricated and cleaned. We suggest using a dry film rust inhibitor such as TUF-GLIDE or TUF-CLOTH. The ESEE-4 is still a favorite amongst law enforcement and military teams due to its light weight, thin profile and various sheath options.

ESEE-4s are shipped with a sheath instruction sheet (below) and Survival Business Card.

Fantastic
Love this knife. I’m 6’1” and have pretty large hands and it fits perfectly. Great weight and balance. Thick blade stock and it’s razor sharp out of the box. I think for 99% of people this will be perfect. I mean they’ve been around forever and are still absolutely relevant. That says something.

I expected more for the money
So, my initial impression of this knife is a let down. The handle is too short and the scales are flat and thin.... Making the handle less then desirable. What is the point of making a good knife with a poor grip? Especially on a work knife? Perhaps the ESEE 4 was intended for women customers or men with really small hands.... Not sure why else the handle was made so short. The positives are it comes very sharp and seems to be a very quality product.... Just a poor design in my opinion. I did attach a lanyard which helps a little with the small handle, but for the money one spends on this knife, that shouldn't be required to get a decent purchase (grip) on the knife. The sheath is quality but somewhat over engineered. Annoying to have to deal with tiny little screws and needing a screw driver to take the clip plate off or to make adjustments. Seems they could have come up with an easier and more innovative way.... Not tiny screws that can come loose over time or are easily be dropped and lost forever when in the woods leaving you in the field with a worthless sheath. I really wanted to like this knife but so far I just don't.

Pros: Handle Material, Overall Quality, Blade Material, Materials, Finish, Blade Sharpness
Cons: None
This knife is thick it's chunky, it's a beast. Awesome for the outdoors, good enough for survival unless in thick jungle, then you need something longer like the Junglass. I found the serrated part extra handy because there aren't too many materials that stand up to this powerful cutting device. While wearing gloves I really can not see anyone taking this off me, perfect fit, awesome grip. Excellent edge retention. I choose this over the SOG Seal 2000 and many other knives
