RCBRK1301DT: Desert Tan Avispa Frame Lock Folder

BRK Designed by ESEE

Avispa is Spanish for Wasp and this frame lock folder is an aptly named large brother to the awesome Zancudo folder. The Avispa was also designed by the survival experts over at ESEE Knives, Mike Perrin and Jeff Randall, and produced by Blue Ridge Knives. It features the same spear point blade shape but in a larger, more capable 3.5" size. With this larger blade, they needed a larger handle and what better knife platform to go with than the awesome Ontario Rat 1. It's a very ergonomic handle that's great for tactical applications and comfortable during prolonged use. The only knock on the Ontario Rat 1 was that it was always a liner lock and never developed into a frame lock. Well, wait no longer - the Avispa is here. The absence of the extra handle scale has produced an extremely slim profile and easy to carry knife with the Avispa. The pocket clip is reversible to all four positions and the knife weighs in at 4.4 ounces. It's another folder we're very excited about here at the KnifeCenter because it gets almost everything right in a folding knife at a price point you're sure to be pleased with.

Cons: Lock Ease of Use
Almost perfect
Great knife! Looks good, sharp, and cuts great! Feels great and is about the same size handle as a Rat 1. One issue = I like carrying right-side, front pocket, tip-up, and when the pocket clip is changed to this position, it covers and rests on the frame lock making it nearly impossible to close one-handed. Generally, 3 of my fingers are ON the pocket clip, which is ON the frame lock, while I'm attempting to press the frame lock with my thumb. Other knives I have do not have this issue.

Excellent EDC
This is a great knife for the price. As an EDC, the blade is well sharpened upon delivery, easy single handed open and great feel. It is a fairly long knife considering it's 3.5" blade. The look is really pleasing and despite its size is fairly narrow width. I gave this a 5 because for the price this is an excellent VALUE.
