RCBRK1301ORB: Avispa Frame Lock Folder, Orange

ESEE Knives

Avispa is Spanish for Wasp and this frame lock folder is an aptly named large brother to the awesome Zancudo folder. The Avispa was also designed by the survival experts over at ESEE Knives, Mike Perrin and Jeff Randall, and produced by Blue Ridge Knives. It features the same spear point blade shape but in a larger, more capable 3.5" size. With this larger blade, they needed a larger handle and what better knife platform to go with than the awesome Ontario Rat 1. It's a very ergonomic handle that's great for tactical applications and comfortable during prolonged use. The only knock on the Ontario Rat 1 was that it was always a liner lock and never developed into a frame lock. Well, wait no longer - the Avispa is here. The absence of the extra handle scale has produced an extremely slim profile and easy to carry knife with the Avispa. The pocket clip is reversible to all four positions and the knife weighs in at 4.4 ounces. It's another folder we're very excited about here at the KnifeCenter because it gets almost everything right in a folding knife at a price point you're sure to be pleased with.

i realize this was on sale
I always wanted to buy a folding ESEE to add to my collection and that is why I bought this. I thought it was going to be discontinued and that is another reason i bought it. Great price, good knife, but it appears to be a factory second. It has an 'L' shaped deep scratch on the blade. Not where the blade meets the scales. It is very noticeable and can be outrageously felt by the thumbnail. Catches as a matter of fact. I will have to pay particular attention to ensure this does not rust. It is so pronounced as to seem purposefully done. Did you make an employee angry? I will not send it back as I live in Hawaii and paid for the fast shipping. I am a long standing customer with knivfe center and will not let this affect my future purchases.

Tight thumb stat
Razor blade sharp with nice handle. I love the color combination orange handle with black blade. Unlucky for me unable to jse thumb stat because its so tight.
