Like the claw of the Harpy eagle the C08 is shaped for controlled pulling cuts. The hawkbill blade shape originated in the marine/fishing industry where severing rope, line, webbing and netting is done at arm's length quickly and efficiently. The curving arc holds what you're cutting against the sharpened edge keeping it from slipping off the tip.
Custom knifemaker David Boye developed the dent in the locking lever, which insures the blade remains securely locked open when gripping the handle with force. Cut out of the handle is a shackle key/drying vent allowing air to circulate around the blade when closed wet. Metal clip is positioned for tip down carry.

This is that infamous knife that is famous only because this is the one where I have put in work in as an artist cutting stencils today but back in the day there was so much use for a good knife. Tactical and tuff. I know first hand during the craziest times durning the 1990’s in NYC , Bronx , Brooklyn with my division of elite soldiers taking down scores and this is exactly how I got my name Paulie Za-Za and as I ran the streets with an iron fist and this short sword that solidified my name in NYC forever. , Stealing Manhattan true crime story coming soon. This knife is in the book and movie , because it saved my life many times …extremely reliable and sturdy knife highly recommended for war. And any survivor situation.
I own one, but this particular Harpy I gave to my son-in-law for his birthday. He reports that he absolutely loves it. The Harpy arrived by pony express! It was perfect out of the box: exceptionally sharp, and attention to detail was excellent. Actually, I am a high end knife collector owning a few Rocksteads. I would state that for the money, this was an excellent purchase. It is an outstanding defense knife, and the blade deploys in a butter smooth, lightning quick fashion. The scales are very nice and fits small to medium sized hands. I do wish it had a more substantive locking mechanism for which Cold Steel holds the trophy
