If you already own a Spyderco Delica or Endura, you have one of the bestselling knives Spyderco makes. These models are a bit different from the normal C10 Endura4 and C11 Spyderco Delica 4 Lightweights. They are in a range of handle colors with full-flat ground blades.
Their FRN (fiberglass reinforced nylon) handles come in vibrant tones including pink, blue, green, brown, gray and purple. Molded onto the handle's surface is Bi-Directional Texturing for slip-free tactile traction. Inside the handle are dual skeletonized stainless steel liners which strengthen the knife without additional weight and double as an anchor for external and internal components to attach through generating more sturdiness and rigidity.
The blades are full flat-ground VG-10 with a thinner highly refined cutting edge and a larger 13mm opening hole. Added to the blade's spine is slip resistant jimping. Phosphor bronze washers smooth out the open/close action and the clip is upgraded to a four-way tip-up, tip-down, left- or right-handed clip.
Zytel Handles
A nylon polymer that is lightweight and extremely durable, Zytel can be shaped and textured to provide excellent grip.
Pocket Clip
Includes a pocket clip for easy accessibility and a more secure carry.
VG10 Stainless Steel
A time-tested stainless steel made in Japan by Takefu and one of the most popular choices for performance kitchen knives.
Lockback
The lockback system has been used for many decades. It can usually be found on the knife spine and it provides a strong lockup that will wear well.
Made in Japan
The exotic steel Capital of the World, Japan produces and innovates some of the best products, from pocket to kitchen knives and everything in between.
The Delica is a great design with some flaws, particularly that the lack of a finger choil means that space where the handle meets the blade is kind of wasted. You can put your index finger there but it's not very safe if you're pushing into a cut. Overall, for a light, slim pocket knife it's a great carry, but what you pay for this VG-10 version isn't a good deal at all. You might as well get the Delica with K390 steel for a little extra, because that's one of the best edge retention steels in history. VG-10 is just ok by modern standards, but the way to get value from most of Spyderco's models is to look at the 100-150 dollar range where they offer industry leading steel upgrades for a little more than the standard version. Also since most Spyderco users want deep carry clips and Spyderco doesn't really offer them stock on anything, you may end up spending another 30 bucks to get one of those from a name brand like Lynch, or you can take your chances with the cheap Asian made stuff on eBay, but sometimes the holes aren't drilled at the right angle and it's hard to install without breaking it.
Bought this knife as an addition to my EDC kit, rotation of knives. But when I got it and handled it, I'm thinking of keeping in my collection. I rate it all Pro's and zero cons. I do have a few other Spyderco knives (Endura, Police Model) that I got long ago, and though they are still very functional, but have had a lot of " use and abuse. I'm happy with this Delica and recommend it as a middle of the road Spyderco for anyone!
