Description
SP123PCBL: C123PCBL Sage 5 Lightweight - Cobalt Blue CPM-SPY27
Spyderco
The injection-molded scales of the Sage 5 Lightweight trim its weight and add the enhanced traction of a Bi-Directional Texture pattern. This elite version of that design raises the bar even further by showcasing a blade crafted from Spyderco's proprietary CPM-SPY27 steel. Developed in close cooperation with Crucible Industries, SPY27 supercharges the proven composition of VG-10 stainless steel with additional alloys and Crucible's state-of-the-art particle metallurgy manufacturing process. The full-flat-ground blade of this knife is supported by a high-strength Compression Lock mechanism and nested, skeletonized stainless steel liners housed within fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) scales. Consistent with the theme of Spyderco's CPM SPY27 family, the scales are injection molded in a signature cobalt-blue color.

Perfect EDC?
Like many knife guys, I have been on a search for the ideal EDC for me. This was my best out of the box experience with any knife except maybe the first one I bought with my own money as a kid. The PM2 is still my favorite, but this is a close second. This is the one I will feel more comfortable pulling out in front of non-knife people or in the office. Unfortunately, on day 2 I dropped it. It bounced, opened, and landed tip down on a ceramic dog dish. I tried to re-shape the tip, but I'm no longer as excited as day 1.

Called Lightweight but still very solid
I’m not a hard use knife user. I want a knife to be made well and be functional. The Sage 5 LW is that and more—great construction and fun to deploy. The handles are have robust steel liners, so it feels very solid in the hand and makes the “spidey-flick” opening very easy.

Perfect knife
I love how this knife has steel liners, a really good blade spy27, and it looks a lot less aggressive than the pm2 or pm3. The light weight and clip allows me to wear this with gym shorts. Razor sharp, stainless steel, edge retention, super light weight, compression lock on the back, this is the perfect EDC knife
