SP223PBBK: C223PBBK Para 3 Lightweight Black Blade
Spyderco

The award-winning Para 3 Lightweight is rapidly redefining the state-of-the-art in ultralight cutting tools. For tactical end users who prefer subdued blade finishes, this revolutionary design is now also available with a stealthy black Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating. Its PlainEdge blade is full-flat ground from CTS-BD1N stainless steel and supported by a streamlined version of Spyderco's patented Compression Lock. To complement the blade's finish, the screws and reversible deep-pocket carry clip on its injection-molded, fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle also sport a non-reflective black coating.

Practical EDC
Mine came slightly off center, but I think with one pivot washer it’s unavoidable. Certainly doesn’t create a problem. It also came with a sticky lock, but that’s gone now with a bit of break in. The blade steel is very easy to touch up and get razor sharp. It’s very lightweight and easy to carry. The clip affords a deep carry in the pocket. The action is real smooth and easy, perfect ergonomics for my hand. The black blade option is very appealing. It may be one of the best options for an EDC pocket knife.

Everything you want in an EDC knife
When Spyderco said this is a lightweight knife, I said "oh sweet that's right up my alley." However, this knife is much lighter than I expected, which isn't a bad thing at all. The profile of this knife isn't small, the handle is a decent length, and takes 4 fingers easily. I don't understand how the FRN can be so strong, and be almost as light as air. It came out of the box with a pretty good edge on it, as I didn't feel the need to touch it up with a sharpener. When I ordered I was worried that the compression lock and detent wouldn't be as good as the regular para 3 with G10 handles (which is the knife that sold me on Spyderco and their designs), but fear not; it's buttery smooth. The only thing about this knife that I would change is the pocket clip, only because I feel like they could dial up the tension on it just a few notches. Last but not least, this knife is a fidgeters delight. Spydie flicking the blade out and then squeezing the compression lock to see the blade just fall back into folding position is orgasmic. Also, despite all the FRN on the knife, it still makes all the satisfying clicking and mechanical sounds a lot of us knife guys like. All in all, if you've been debating about buying this knife (or considering this or the Benchmade Bugout), debate no longer and treat yourself to this fantastic piece.
