Description
SP81PBK2: C81PBK2 Paramilitary 2 Lightweight
Spyderco
Spyderco’s Para Military 2 is hands down one of the most popular, recognizable, and carried knives in the cutlery industry. Now this iconic design is available in a lightweight format that trims the knife’s overall weight by more than 25 percent and adds enhanced grip security. The secrets to its remarkable design start with injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) handle scales. Lighter than G10, they feature the signature Bi-Directional Texture pattern for a high-traction, non-slip grip. They also house a streamlined Compression Lock mechanism that further reduces the knife’s weight while locking the blade securely open during use. The business end of the knife showcases a full-flat-ground CTS-BD1N stainless steel blade, which is available in both PlainEdge and fully serrated SpyderEdge formats. To ensure discreet, convenient carry while keeping the knife poised for instant access, the Para Military 2 Lightweight includes a deep-pocket wire clip that is reversible for left- or right-side tip-up carry.

Amazing Knife
This knife is just about as perfect as you can get for a production EDC knife. It is my daily driver, and I use it for everything. Even with just the factory Behind The Edge Thickness and the factory edge, it is a high-sharpness, high-performance cutting machine. I had also gotten the Spyderco Para 3 LW in CTS-BD1N about a year or so before the PM2 LW CTS-BDN1, and now it has taken the Para 3 LW's place as my EDC knife.

Decent Knife
I have wanted to get a PM2 for a while now and when I saw that there was a slightly cheaper variant available I jumped on it. However, when I got it and tried it out I was slightly underwhelmed. The blade of course is nice but there is a decent bit of up and down play on the lock, more than I’ve had on cheap liner lock knives in the past. And when you first remove the knife for the first few openings it opens smoothly, but then it gets grittier and grittier the more you use it. I’ve had and used it frequently and the action isn’t getting better. It’s a sturdy knife but I’ve had washer action knives that cost $25 that were drop smooth out of the box.

Long Awaited Version of a Classic
My new PM2 LW doesn't have as smooth of play as my Para 3 LW or my PM2 CruWear, but I'm still liking it.I unscrewed the pivot screws until they were practically falling out and it still feels tight, so I will just live with it and hope it loosens in time. I like the format too much, and don't want to hassle with sending it back.
