SP41MPCW5: C41MPCW5 Native 5, Brown Canvas Micarta CruWear

Spyderco

The venerable Native model has been a mainstay of the Spyderco product line since it was first released in 1997. During more than 20 years of service and five generations of evolution, it has been steadily refined into its current form — the Native 5. Combining all the time-tested qualities of the original design with enhanced ergonomics, incredibly precise lock tolerances, and four-position carry, it is arguably about as perfect as a lockback folding knife can be. This model features the ever-impressive CPM-CruWear tool steel, offering fantastic performance and excellent edge retention. As Spyderco has done in the past, this CruWear blade is masterfully paired with brown Canvas Micarta handles, providing both an attractive appearance and an excellent grip that will withstand the test of time.

For the Love of God, Spyderco
This knife is almost flawless to me in every way. The ergonomics are sublime, the materials are top shelf, The fit and finish is excellent. This knife screams quality right out of the box. But for the love of all things holy, WHAT ARE THEY THINKING PUTTING A STANDARD CLIP ON THESE?!?! Spyderco, if you are reading this: I adore you for your mission in the knife making world. You pioneer some of the best modern designs I have ever wrapped my hands around. The Native 5 is perfect in almost every way.. PLEASE ELEVATE YOUR CLIP GAME. This knife needs a SMALL deep carry clip. something that lays almost flush with the knife. I almost can't believe in all your knife making wisdom you would throw a standard size clip on this and call it a day. The entire knife goes from unforgivable to perfect, the second you remove the pocket clip. So now I'm forced into this predicament where I can't really carry this knife the way I want, but I can't get rid of it because it is the perfect knife in all other regards. I've had this happen with the Para 3 lightweight as well, perfect in all regards, but for some unknown reason they want to design it implementing a single washer. SPYDERCO HAVE MERCYYYYY

So sharp and so light.
Wanted this knife before it even existed. Had a g10 with liners native 5 and wanted a pocket knife that would age and patina well. I carry tip down so options are limited and I’ve fallen in love with the native 5.Out of the box this is one of the sharpest knives I’ve ever used. It did feel a little “less quality” after using the linered native 5 but it’s starting to feel better without the comparison. We’ll she how she holds up over time. Bought a second one to give to my kid as his first knife. Hope it has a nice patina by the time I give him his. $221 is a lot for me as I’m more of a budget knife guy who doesn’t want to baby his pocket knives but this was a having a baby celebration purchase for myself. So any other day of the week, probably not “worth” the price, but time will tell.

Not what I was expecting
I have the CruWear/brown micarta Shaman, and I love it. It's a masterpiece of engineering. I bought this piece to round out my collection. But the Shaman scales are sculpted and polished, very pleasant to hold in the hand. The scales on this piece are not. The scales are raw and unfinished, and feel like handling a piece of unsanded wood. I called Spyderco and they said this was intentional, to allow the purchaser to finish the knife to their liking. I waited 10 months for delivery on this and sent it right back.
