Its remarkable alloy composition includes almost 15 percent vanadium, which produces an exceptionally high volume of vanadium carbides in its microstructure. In industrial applications, this makes it a viable alternative to solid carbide in the production of intricate tool designs. In knife blades, these properties translate to phenomenal cutting performance and exceptional edge retention.

In addition to showcasing this elite steel, the blades of these US-made models are further optimized by a specialized heat-treating protocol developed by renowned custom knifemaker Shawn Houston. This process is fine-tuned to achieve the absolute maximum sharpness and edge retention from the steel. The knives in this family are further distinguished by brown peel-ply-textured G10, fiberglass-reinforced co-polymer (FRCP), or fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) scales and Shawn Houston’s "Triple B" logo laser-engraved on the reverse side of the blades.

Spyderco Sprint Runs are limited edition production runs of items not found in Spyderco's standard product line.
