The BY07 byrd Crossbill is a noteworthy combination of high-quality materials and superior manufacturing standards at an economical price point. Like the actual bird, the Crossbill is highly adaptable with a hawkbill shaped blade that is curved for controlled pulling cuts.
Originally used by the marine industry, the blade shape holds rope, line, webbing and netting against the sharpened edge, keeping it from slipping off the tip. The Crossbill's hollow-ground blade is manufactured using 8Cr13Mov stainless steel, which contains both molybdenum and vanadium, enhancing the blade's ability to hold a sharp cutting surface and wear less over time and use.
Its comet-looking blade hole is a trademark of the byrd line and is synonymous with the stringent quality requirements, high performance materials and manufacturing, which go into every byrd knife. Entirely stainless steel, the handle has ergonomic contours making long term and strenuous cutting more comfortable. A David Boye Dent is ground away from the lock release to inhibit the chance of gripping the knife tightly enough to unintentionally release the lock during use.

Mine arrived in perfect condition
I received this today and the fit, finish, grind was perfect. Zero blade play up and down. maybe 3% blade play side to side. Almost non existent. Easy open and close. Without being too hard to open/close 1 handed. I hear that some had experiences with the opening and closing function being too tight. I have not run into that on my purchase. Good edc/self defense knife. And Spyderco have the best serrations in the business.So since mine arrived flawless and in much better condition than my past Byrd purchases. I will give this a 4 star. Due to the ridiculous MAP price increases that are placing Byrd prices too high.To be honest the Byrd knives have increased in price too much over the last 3 years. And this will be the last Byrd I buy. And possibly quit business with Spyderco. As their yearly price hikes are getting out of hand. And too close to Benchmade pricing territory.

very nice knife , don't know what others whining about
Just got the knife today , lock works good only need my thumb . let my wife try too No problem with lock . My wife asks why not make one for left handers or make it adjustable to left handed peoples ?? I gonna use around the house , got some storm damage to clean up . Gonna cut some ropes and wrappings for small trees . Cut small branches do some 1st aid on small trees and fruit trees . Thank you.
