TOPS Knives

Most cutting tasks out there can be performed with blades 3.5” or shorter. Usually, though, smaller blades also come with smaller handles. While that’s great when it comes to the overall size and carry-ability of a knife, sometimes, having a smaller blade with a larger handle is to one’s advantage, especially if you’re going to be using it for a while. That’s where the Hornero comes in. The handle is large for a 3” blade, but it fills the hand nicely with its contoured mix of tan and black canvas Micarta. The sheepsfoot-esque blade is made from 3/16” 1095 with TOPS' famous differential heat treat and black powder coat finish. The included black Kydex sheath has a Kydex belt loop that puts the knife comfortably on a bet up to 2” wide, making this knife easy to carry all day, every day.

The Hornero was designed by Tomás Reynoso from Argentina, and we named the knife after the national bird of his country. He has an extensive background in wilderness and survival activities as a student and teacher. He has had a passion for knives for many years, which has developed into him modding and he has even started making them in his spare time. The Hornero is a simple, yet very effective EDC design that you’ll be glad you picked up.

Superb EDC Fixed Blade
This is a great EDC Belt Carry knife. The 3 inch blade length is just right for everyday use and the handle is a solid 4 inches with a contour that make it feel really good in the hand. The thumb groove in the blade makes it especially comfortable to use. The 1095 blade has some significant width, heft and strength that I like although it is not as slicey as thinner blades. Build quality was perfect and the sheath works great for belt carry. Also great as a hiking knife to complement other cutting tools (axe, saw, long fixed blades) as needed.
