The Maga is the result of Viper's first collaboration with Boris Manasherov, designer of knives and instructor of the Israeli army martial art "Krav Maga". It is the first Viper knife to use thrust bearings in place of more traditional bronze washers and it makes for and excellent flipping knife. The opening is incredibly smooth and fast guaranteed by the bearings and the excellent ergonomics of the handle allow extremely fast response times. The versatility of use is guaranteed by the choice between plain or partially serrated edge and the choice of handle materials. All feature the excellent steel Bohler N690Co for the blade.
This is a brilliant knife for edc, self defense, electrical work. This knife allows you to expose it extended while your other hand is occupied.It is amazing as you pull it out of your right hand front pocket the large groove at the base of the blade opens the knife for you. The knife must be placed as far back as possible with only the small clip showing. No it is not a miniature belt clip as the other reviewer imagined - this is the only part of the knife visible on you. Place your pointer finger in the groove of the clip and your thumb inside your pocket on the small round groove on the handle and pull back. The knife flings open and you have over 6" of reach in a nano second. just be careful.....I once pulled mine out while sitting on a leather couch and accidentally put a long gash on the cushion. Once you master the technique you want to use it for everything....The design of the blade is genius. Where the 2 curves meet is an excellent spot for stripping romex. Knifes great for stripping large feeder cable ends....any type of work because you can whip it out so quick, and find smart ways to use the curves.My all time favorite. I pray they never stop making these.Only cons are eventually destroying your pockets if using a lot, or accidentally cutting something as you whip it out.

Nice knife with a few drawbacks....
The blade design is really designed for defensive use.....and the blade design is excellent in that capacity.. Having a renowned Krav Maga practitioner assist in the design, this was clearly the objective. For a defensive use knife, I love the blade shape. A lot of "tactical" folders are really multi-use knives. This knife is rather singular in its intended purpose. Self defense. I like that since I carry a folder at times and in places that I wont need to chop wood or perform field/survival types of tasks. I carry a folder for an added layer of defense exclusively. Having this folder is an excellent option for that purpose.This knife easily flips right open and has a very positive and wbble-free lock up. It really fits the hand extremely well in either a traditional or reverse grip. The blade steel is more than acceptable and comes out of the box as sharp as any knife I've ever bought. I'd say the edge and the point are noticably sharper than the last two ZT knives I've purchased....which is saying something. The grip is well crafted and shaped, with no 90 degree angled edges.....very smooth to hold.A few cons of this knife.The stainless liner is somewhat thin compared to some of my other folders like Emerson and ZT. It feels a little cheaper when it locks open on a thinner liner lock. Zero wobble, but just not quite as robust.The carbon fiber grips are smooth, without any texture....so if that's not your thing, get a different grip model. The belt clip is crap. It should have been made longer, made out of better material (mine is not shiny but a dull metal that looks cheap compared to the screws and blade). The belt clip has no ability to be switched to either end or either side of the knife. It's a point-up carry knife....which I don't prefer. Unlocking the liner to fold the knife closed isn't ideal. The thinner liner would benefit from greater tactile design. All things considered though, this is a knife worth owning. Great blade design for defensive/fighting purposes. Far better for that purpose then just about any folder I've ever owned or seen. Vety positive lock up and excellent grip shape. The knife is lighter and easier to carry without a bulky feeling than other knives I own.If you're going to own just one folder, I'd choose a more robust and versatile design. If you're interested in adding a folder that's focused on excelling at defensive fighting, this is a fantastic choice.
