Why do knife companies apply animal-like names and descriptions to their knives? In Spyderco's defense, the Spyderco Round Hole and super sharp edge are reminiscent of eyes and claws.
Think cats. Cats represent a highly developed level of predatory resourcefulness, sleek sharp claws and efficiency. The C129GP Cat CLIPIT has a leaf-shaped CTS-BD1N blade just under two-and-a-half inches in length that is flat-ground for hair popping sharpness.
The cat is unique. Spyderco aimed for a high pinnacle of cutting adeptness but demanded it be polished and sophisticated in appearance. So, they combined cat-claw sharpness with a G10 handle and Michael Walker LinerLock. The black G10 handle is shaped and sized ergonomically with full-length skeletonized liners inside for strength without bulky weight.
A deep silhouette wire clip burrows the knife down deeply in a pant's pocket with the tip facing up ready to carry left- or right-handed.
Spyderco believes the name is appropriate and think you might too.
Pocket Clip
Includes a pocket clip for easy accessibility and a more secure carry.
G10 Handles
Formed in a sheet under high pressure by combining fiberglass and an epoxy resin binder. These handles are lightweight and shaped to ensure a solid grip.
Found myself at my friends cabin alone, had some wood but didn’t bring a fixed blade or ax to create some kindling to get my fire going. I pulled out my Sperco Cat and shaved off some wood, then I actually baton’ed the log a bit, slamming a thin log onto the tip and just around the choil. I got some nice cuts of wood to get my fire going....The knife took a beating...a disrespectful beating, but it did the job! The lock up isn’t perfect now, but it’s barely noticeable....and I wouldn’t of been mad if it worse given what I did to it. I might even be able to tighten the screw and fix that? Anyway, great damn knife for a more budget knife. I think thats a big reason I like it, knowing I can beat the snot out of it and not worry about it, Great knife!
This is a first impression as I just got the Cat two days ago. But she hasn't left my pocket. Great little EDC value gem. I wouldn't have normally chosen BD1 as a blade steel. But as a budget steel, it is all one can ask for. Good ergo, reasonable materials, and vood price all add up to a great value. The Cat is not pocket candy, but she is a little beater that will feel good in the hand a d easy on the pocket book.
