ACU1845PODG: Arroyo 1845P-ODG Flipper Knife, OD Green Micarta
Artisan Cutlery
The Arroyo is a compact flipper from Artisan Cutlery designed by Dirk Pinkerton. The aggressively designed blade has a large upswept profile that is great for self-defense but excels at most cutting tasks. It is made from a proprietary steel by CJRB and Artisan called AR-RPM9 that takes the best qualities of D2 and stainless to make a budget steel that really holds up. The blade is deployed quickly thanks to the ceramic ball bearings in the pivot and is secured via the liner lock built into the handle. The handles themselves are made from Micarta that has a light texturing that really helps with the grip. The knife comes with a stainless steel pocket clip that is reversible to accommodate right and left-handed people.
Micarta Handles
Micarta is a compressed layered composite sealed within a thermosetting plastic which creates a strong, attractive material that is impervious to water.
Pocket Clip
Includes a pocket clip for easy accessibility and a more secure carry.

ArtisanCutlery Arroyo Flipper Knife 3.31" Satin AR-RPM9 Upswept Blade, OD Green Micarta Handles
Once you flip it a few times the ceramic bearings start to loosen up. The knife came really sharp from the factory, and doesn't need any dressing up. The liner lock is pretty stiff at first, but with time should get better. Brand new the liner lock is fitted really tight to the blade. Shop around before buying as the price can vary allot.
ArtisanCutlery Arroyo Flipper Knife 3.31" Satin AR-RPM9 Upswept Blade, OD Green Micarta Handles
I have a dozen Artisan/Cjrb knives. The Arroyo's slim profile, contoured handle scales and blade centering give it the feel of a much more expensive knife. I have also been very impressed with the RPM9 steel on this and other knives in their lineup. It's a step above.
ArtisanCutlery Arroyo Flipper Knife 3.31" Satin AR-RPM9 Upswept Blade, OD Green Micarta Handles
The knife is a very nice size, and I love the unique blade. It looks really good in the micarta handles, which are very good quality and quite grippy. The overall size is great and with the very nice deep pocket carry clip, it sits well in the pants. It flips open well enough, but with a few issues. In the first week since I’ve had it, it’s cut me twice. The first time was on deployment and for some reason my palm was on top of the blade path. The upswept blade point got me good on the palm. Not bad, but it did hurt, especially when applying hand sanitizer! :[]The second time it cut me was on the thumb as I closed the blade using the liner lock. The detent on the blade it strong and it wants to go back in. There is a good stopping feature by the flipper tab, but for some reason it got me. The liner lock is pretty firm, and without the jimping on the lock bar, it’s a bit slippery and mixed with the strong resistance, it isn’t the easiest to close.Overall, it’s a slick little knife, just not one I will be fidgeting with often.
