BC112: Executive Stainless Steel Liner Lock Flipper Knife

Bear & Son Cutlery

The Executive Liner Lock is a beautifully designed knife from top to bottom. The blade is made from high carbon stainless steel, which holds an edge well. The blade seamlessly transitions into the handle that is made of stainless steel and features and liner lock mechanism. The blade has a thumb stud for one-handed opening and at 2.4 oz. its weight is perfect for an everyday carry.

Bear & Son have a skilled and experienced work force capable of performing many of the extra hand operations that go into the making of their products. While some companies only assemble parts brought from various suppliers and put their names on the product, they do everything in house from building their own blanking dies to heat treating, grinding and assembly, and hand finishing their products. These steps ensure that Bear & Son Cutlery is of excellent quality and a real value for both the dealer and the consumer.

Cons: Handle Feel, Handle Material
Not bad, not great, but not bad
First off I have to say I'm in shock this is fully US made for this lowly price tag. No, you aren't getting fancy materials in any of it but for what it is it's well put together and fully functional. I was worried how well the lock up and action would feel since those two factors are the majority of the time a direct "you get what you pay for" kind of deal. The scales are wafer thin so I worried the lock up would be mushy or inconsistent but the frame lock has plenty enough spring tension set to it and locks up solid with no lock stick on mine. The only reason I can't give it five stars is the thin scales means if you cut anything with any resistance then the edges of those scales dig into the hand. This obviously isn't a heavy duty knife so that shouldn't be that big of an issue but even something like cutting the plastic bubble pack on something will be annoying. It came reasonable sharp but not as sharp as some knives in this price range are these days. But the 440A they use should be super easy to put a keen edge on. The pocket clip is deep carry but due to the placement it doesn't allow the nearly invisible deep carry that I prefer. I guess it splits the difference. It's really just the overly thin scales that hold this knife back from budget folder greatness. If they were a little more thick they would weigh more but would just feel so much better in hand.Bottomline, would I buy again? I think so. I like the idea of a US made budget friendly knife that won't make me scream if I lose it. Or if a friend in need comes asking.
