BTKBT1711A: BT1711A Goblin Titanium Frame Lock

Bestech Knives

The BT1711A Goblin flipper is a small flipper design from Bestech Knives, perfectly suited for everyday carry. The 2" sheepsfoot blade is made from CPM-S35VN stainless steel with a stonewashed finish and brushed satin bevels. The action riding on ceramic ball bearings is buttery smooth and the lockup is nice and tight. The ergonomic handle is made from milled 6AL4V titanium with a carbon fiber inlay on the presentation scale. The shape locks it into your hand and the thumb ramp is perfectly executed for comfortable extended cutting tasks. The pocket clip and backspacer are made from 6AL4V titanium for maximum quality assurance and the design includes a nice sized lanyard slot.

About CPM-S35VN Stainless Steel

CPM-S35VN is a martensitic stainless steel designed to offer improved toughness over CPM-S30V. It is also easier to machine and polish than CPM-S30V. Its chemistry has been rebalanced so that it forms some niobium carbides along with vanadium and chromium carbides. Substituting niobium carbides for some of the vanadium carbides makes CPM-S35VN about 15-20% tougher than CPM S30V without any loss of wear resistance. CPM-S35VN's improved toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. Because both vanadium and niobium carbides are harder and more effective than chromium carbides in providing wear resistance, the CPM stainless blade steels offer improved edge retention over conventional high chromium steels such as 440C and D2.

It's the perfect keychain knife
I found Bestech through a YouTube review channel and initially wanted to replace my Spyderco Dragonfly 2 ZDP-189 keychain knife with the Bestech Engine. Found out it was a little large for that and ended up finding the Goblin instead. I'm a sucker for titanium and carbon fiber, but I ordered it maybe 6 months ago and the thing is a small monster. I took the pocket clip off of mine to make it a little slimmer, but don't be fooled by the somewhat intimidating price. It can easily be an EDC knife that you carry for the rest of your life despite its size. You'll never go wrong with the S35VN steel and the firm but light handle. Seriously great knife.
