In recent years, there has been a common misconception about lockback knives; people assume that because of how the lock operates, that they could never have smooth action - for the most part, this has been the case. Colin Maisonpierre of CM Knife Designs and Bestech are proud to bring about a new era of lockback folding knives, with Maisonpierre's revolutionary new lockback design.

The Tonic is a new take on the lockback. Maisonpierre had a mission to create a lockback knife that flicked open just as easy as your standard liner lock or frame lock. To create this smooth opening, he designed the lock back to have a ceramic ball on the inside of it, which would interface with the tang of the blade. The idea being that there was less surface area contacting the blade so the opening would be smoother than a typical lockback. He calls this the "Inset Ball Back-Lock."

Regardless of whether you are left or right handed, this fantastic lockback flicks open with ease. The bolstered titanium handles feature comfortable black canvas micarta inlays which provide a nice snug grip. The overall handle shape fits in the hand just right, and easily allows you to choke up on the blade for more precise cuts. The reverse tanto blade offers a nicely reinforced tip which is perfect for all piercing tasks.
