BTKBT2503C: BT2503C Taipan Front Flipper - Gray

Bestech Knives

The Bestech Taipan is a high-end front flipper knife designed by James Lowe as a fusion of everyday functionality and premium materials. The MagnaCut blade has a sheepsfoot profile and provides heavy cutting power with the toughness and corrosion resistance that you'd expect from a MagnaCut knife. Deployed with either the front flipper tab or a generous thumb hole, the blade of the Taipan locks up securely with a tough frame lock. This pocket knife comes with sturdy titanium handles with a texturing that ensures a steady grip during use. This is aided by the large finger groove and jimping on the spine of the Taipan that really locks it into your hand. With its modern blade steel, straightforward design aesthetic, and refined materials, the Taipan is a compelling choice for both collectors and users.

An unexpected, yet stupidly great knife
Firstly, I have never owned a Bestech before this one. Late 2025 I saw all the content creators raving about the Taipan but they were sold out, everywhere. I am a sucker for a good Wharncliffe/Sheepsfoot, especially with a hollow grind. At first, I thought this was going to be overpriced for what it is. I decided to pull the trigger and place an order at Knife Center even though these were not in stock. I had to wait around 5 weeks, I think, but when I opened this up and flicked it open, I was sold. It has one of the craziest factory edges I've ever experienced, it has beautifully machined titanium handles, and the sound is incredible. The action is just tuned perfectly and the frame lock is executed well. Bestech has a winner with this knife. I wasn't familiar with James Lowe (the designer) but he has designed a great, sharp slicer that has style points to spare. If you can find this in stock and you're on the fence about it, it is worth it, in my opinion. Some could argue that it's overpriced, but for what you get, it is a fair value. Will I buy other Bestech knives, now? I don't know. I haven't been overly impressed with their other offerings in the past, but this one sure makes me wonder if all their products are done this well. I know they OEM for lots of folks and I own a few of those. I know they don't get a ton of love like some other brands, but this one is just stupidly great.
