BU0112BKS1: 112 Slim Ranger Select, Black

Buck Knives

Buck's industry-leading Ranger design is now available in EDC form and priced accordingly. As the 110s and 112s seem to go hand-in-hand, the 112 Slims were developed in conjunction with the 110 Slims as a modern solution for an everyday carry version of the 112 Ranger. With the same functionality as the 112 Ranger, the colorful Slims are truly an EDC option with one hand opening blades and designed for easy carry with a deep carry pocket clip.

A colorful EDC based on an American classic, the 112 Ranger, the 112 Slim possesses the same traditional features but sports a more modern look. The deep carry pocket clip is added based on the overwhelming customer demand and allows for quick and easy access in any situation. With easy one-handed opening, the 420HC stainless steel blade provides supreme edge retention and is finished with Buck's Advanced Edge2x Blade Technology. To decrease the weight and thickness, the heavy bolster and handles are replaced with a lightweight molded nylon while still maintaining the same quality and rigidity of the original 112.

420HC Steel

This is Buck's standard blade material because it approaches the wear resistance of high carbon alloys while delivering the corrosion resistance of chromium stainless steels. Add our exclusive heat-treat process and you have a very user-friendly combination of superior corrosion resistance with excellent strength for wear resistance and durability. You also have a blade that is easy to resharpen. For best performance, we harden to a Rockwell hardness of Rc 58.

Clip Point Blade

The crescent tip makes the blade thinner with a sharper point. This shape provides good control for detail work and cutting in tight places. It is also well suited for intentional punctures like new holes in your belt, etc. While the point of the blade is effective for detail work, it's not as strong as the thicker points on drop points and skinners.

Select Product Level

The 112 made pocket friendly
It’s hard to find a 3” blade with a usable handle size. This is it, done right. The 4 1/4” handle allows for a secure grip during heavy use. The handle material feels solid and grips well. The lockup is solid with no play in the blade. It has a great sharp edge right out of the box. The blade shape is great for controlled cuts and suitable for heavy use. The design, size and weight make it a very easy carry and still very capable.

Buck 112 slim with pocket clip and 420HC stainless steel
I got a Buck 112 slim with pocket clip and 420HC stainless steel blade. It was actually turned in at my campground and no one ever claimed it after memorial day weekend and it was gave to me. It’s actually a 2021 production model year and In really good condition looks like it really wasn’t used much at all now it’s actually my favorite one to carry now can’t wait to see how it actually holds up to everyday carry as a work knife and when camping constantly all the time everyday constantly from April till November. Then I’ll take it home with me and bring it back for the following season. I actually have the original 112 ranger with macasser ebony wood handles and 420HC that I actually use for bigger tasks. This 112 ranger slim is nice to carry when wearing shorts.

Great Value
Overall a good EDC especially for under $30.00. This is a great knife for those looking for a very lightweight, reasonably good quality folding EDC. I was most impressed by how light-weight this knife is which is a big plus for EDC especially if you routinely carry a few other items in your pockets as a matter of routine (like keys, lighters, tools….). The shorter, wider pocket clip design is not my favorite as I personally prefer a longer, narrower clip design versus this one but its ok and does the job. Although I much prefer a folding knife with a strong over-center closed position insuring a good positive folded position on this knife this feature makes opening the knife with the thumb knobs virtually impossible. However, even without a finger notch on the blade it is easy enough to grab and open without difficulty. Lastly, if you’re prone to lose pocket knives as often as I do this is a great one to have as its way better than losing a $100 (better quality) knife but still gets the job done nicely.
