CRKL311000: Large Sebenza 31

Chris Reeve Knives

In the Sebenza, Chris Reeve Knives makes one of the finest premium folding knives on the planet, and after more than three decades since its introduction, the Sebenza 31 has been continually refined through the years to maintain its position as arguably the best pocket knife ever.

Sebenza means "work" in Zulu and these knives are intended to do just that. Built with handcrafted care at a production level, the Sebenza 31 has earned a worldwide reputation for rock-solid performance and a 'bank vault' feel. It is the knife that introduced the world to the frame lock over three decades ago, formally named the Reeve Integral Lock, and they still do it better than anyone. The "31" model uses a ceramic ball interface between the lockbar and the blade for stability and longevity of the mechanism, which is even more long-lasting than the steel interfaces that the competition use.

The Sebenza 31 is currently offered with a CPM-MagnaCut hollow-ground blade at a 63-64HRC to retain a sharp edge with easy maintenance.

The break-in period is real!
Really just posting this for people that are new to CRK and those looking to buy their first. So I recently ordered my first two CRK knives, an Umnumzaan and a large 31. Both brand new from a reputable distributor. I had never even seen a CRK in person prior to them arriving. The Zaan arrived first and I was blown away. The lock up was rock solid and the action felt like oiled glass. I could flick it right out of the box (I know, I know... don't flame me.) This made me even more excited for the Sebenza to arrive since it's always been somewhat of a grail knife for me. Well, a few days later it showed up aaannndd I was disappointed to say the least. The lock up was just as solid but the action left A LOT to be desired. I was tight.. like tight tight, and borderline gritty. I broke it down, cleaned and lubed it, then reassembled it, making sure to tighten the pivot as little as possible without allowing for blade play. It only got maybe 5% better. I had read about the break- in period but since my Zaan was smooth out of the box, I just resigned myself to the fact that the Seb would never be as smooth. Well, I'm now a month into ownership of the Sebenza and I have opened/closed it A LOT and cleaned/ lubed one more time. I'm very excited to say, my tight and gritty Sebenza is now every bit as smooth as my Zaan!Long story short, if you just bought your first CRK and you're disappointed by the action, don't lose faith! Keep working it... because the break-in period is VERY real.

Fantastic knife
My boyfriend has always wanted this knife since he was a little boy. I was able to get it for him for a graduation present and I’ve never seen him so happy. Typically he carries a knife on him, wherever we go. Now seeing him carry this knife makes me extremely happy.
