Chris Reeve Knives

The Inkosi is a family of folding knives that will claim the position of Chief alongside the iconic Sebenza. The Inkosi features sandblasted handles, a tumbled finish drop point blade, titanium hardware and exterior accents in gorgeous silver. Build with handcrafted care at a production level, the Inkosi continues to push the characteristics of the Integral Lock, blade strength, pivot and lock tolerances as well as overall ergonomics. This model features the Insingo blade, meaning "razor" in Zulu, and is a Chris Reeve adaptation of the traditional Wharncliffe blade, a utility blade with excellent slicing capabilities.

A carefully developed hollow grind, strengthened pivot and sturdy lockup were the starting points for the family of Inkosi folding knives. While challenging the standards of the Integral Lock, the Inkosi is the most overbuilt knife of its kind, a true testament of strength. Using a ceramic ball as an interface for the lock bar to the blade tang, it ensures a lifetime of consistent lockup.

This is the first time Chris Reeve Knives has been able to use twin, oversized washers with an Integral Lock. The washer diameter is wider than the blade securing zero sideways play. With larger lubrication holes there is even less surface area of friction.

With their Large Hollow Grind technology, they use a shallow radius to add more strength to the blade, making it halfway between a flat grind and their standard hollow grind.

Love, Hate Relationship
Generally speaking, the only sharp and pointy thing on a knife should be the blade. However, the handle on this knife is filled with sharp, pointy things that make it less than ergonomic. That said, I don’t buy CRK knives for their ergonomics (think ridiculous, painful, sharp, and pointy thumb studs). I buy them for their build quality, precision engineering and manufacturing, world-class warranty, hydraulic action, durability, and the fact that they make me happy (except for the ridiculous thumb studs). Based on my personal preferences, I love this knife. The insingo blade is made for heavy-duty but precise work, the small size makes it a pleasure to carry, and the overall knife is a real beauty to look at. If you are new to Chris Reeve Knives, go with a Mnandi, Sebinza, or Umnumzaan first. The small Inkosi is my least favorite of all, including the Impinda, but my collection and my pockets would seem empty without it. If you like and appreciate CRK, then you will not be disappointed in this one.
