Wes Crawford, the custom knife maker, has been a friend of Cold Steel for years, so they were happy to collaborate with him on the creation of an inexpensive version of one of his pricey custom flippers. The result was the Crawford Model 1. Strongly resembling Wes’ custom knife, the blade features a wide saber grind and a strong, sharp point with plenty of belly for cutting and slashing. It's made from Japanese 4034 Stainless and is hollow ground to a thin, razor edge that will cut at the slightest touch. And, because Wes' flipper is integrated into the tang, it can be opened lightning fast! The handle of the Crawford Model 1 mimics Wes' original's profile and silhouette but is made from a strong (yet economical), glass reinforced nylon that includes traction rubber inlays and a low-profile pocket clip. To keep your fingers safe from potential harm, Cold Steel has equipped the Crawford 1 with a leaf spring lock, and a (patent pending) secondary safety mechanism that is extremely resistant to shock and impact.

A nylon polymer that is lightweight and extremely durable, Zytel can be shaped and textured to provide excellent grip.

Includes a pocket clip for easy accessibility and a more secure carry.

Not too bad
As a fan of cold steel, I own a lot of their products and was skeptical about this Flipper, considering this isn't cold steels typical type of knife. It's a great knife actually, just wish they had an option for partial serrated blade.

It’s a budget folder
This is an entry level budget folder that comes with a very tight pocket clip that must be bent in order to be able to insert and retrieve from pocket,as well as to avoid destroying your pants pocket.The rubber inlay doesn’t help matters any,as the clip is flush with the rubber inlay,so bending the clip is a must.The plastic scales leave a bit to desire,as does the entry level 4034 steel.Not sure why the secondary lock was installed as it’s not necessary,because there’s already a liner lock,plus the flipper also serves as additional protection.As I said earlier, this is a decent entry level budget folder,but there’s nothing separating it from the plethora of budget folders from the likes of Kershaw, CRKT, Byrd (Spyderco), Civivi,Ruike, Steel Will, Ontario, etc.

great knife until it fell apart (literally)
A folding knife is a tool. I use it many times per day for a variety of tasks. I do not treat my knives kindly. This knife was durable, right sized, solid to handle and very useful. Then the screws started falling out. First I lost the pocket clip, then the lock button and one or two that hold the knife together. At this price point it is not worth trying to repair it. If (when) I buy another one, I will take it apart and loctite the screws before I put it into service.
