The KnifeCenter considers the Vaquero series of folders from Cold Steel to be among the best knives produced over the last 20 years. The Voyager series in general are well designed and very well made and any Voyager will serve the user well for many years. Materials are all very good and the action and lockups are fast and solid. The Vaquero series, though, is especially suited to very quick slicing or tearing. The serrations are very aggressive and, on the small curves, the blade just about has steel hairs extending out. They are wicked sharp. Admittedly, through repeated use, those hairs will shrink, but these will still be very aggressive cutters. You can dress up the edge by sharpening the flat side of the blade but will eventually have to take a rat-tail file type sharpener into the serration grooves to sharpen it up.

Cold Steel says:"The Vaquero Voyager Series folders all feature our distinctive "S-Curve" clip point blade style. They are precision flat ground to form a long, shallow "V" shaped cross section. This is ideal for shearing through thick, fibrous materials such as manila rope, cable, hose, belts, etc. The serrated edges form a sinuous double curve. This means that whatever material is struck with the inward curving portion of the edge (near the hand) will automatically force the remaining curved edge entirely through.
