Cold Steel

When developing the Cold Steel Code 4, the aim was to create an ultra-thin, ultra-light, highly functional utility knife that is a breeze to carry. There is great comfort to be gleaned from knowing you are carrying a good knife, and many of our friends in Law Enforcement talk about how they’re always looking for that one reliable, lightweight blade that can become a permanent part of their everyday loadout. We believe that the Cold Steel Code 4 is destined to become that knife! It won't weigh down your uniform or provide unnecessary bulk. It's a pleasure to carry – so it's always there when you need it! Available in a variety of blade configurations, with ambidextrous pocket clips and thumb studs, each Code 4 features sturdy, hard-anodized gun metal grey 6061 Aluminum handles, the world-renowned Tri-Ad locking mechanism, and high satin polished, razor sharp S35VN blades.

Pros: Handle Material, Blade Material
Cons: Lock Ease of Use
The Best One Yet
This is the second Code 4 I've owned. In S35V it is Terrific. I have beat on it for two weeks. The lock is as strong as any fixed blade if a bit stiff to close. It is light, thin, and unnoticeable in my pocket yet hand filling and stout for business. I put a thong on my knives so I don't have to go down a ladder or go 'fishing' if I lose my grip. It is a bit large for the office but disappears in the pocket for so large a knife. Fit, Finnish, and the edge are up to Cold steel's usual excellence. This is not a knife to be carried everywhere, so I keep it in the console at those places. this blade in S35V even for compulsive sharpeners such as myself will last a long time. The only real step up would be a Titanium model. If you've been waiting for the right cold Steel folder this is it.

Favorite folder
I've had an older version of this in XHP for well over a year now, and it's easily my favorite knife. This one kicked a Benchmade 710 out of my pocket. It's decently large but super thin and fairly light, making it almost unnoticeable in your pocket. Some people may find it a little too thin; if youre working with your knife all day every day you might want something thicker for comfort, but you're on Knifecenter and probably already know what you do and don't like in a handle. The pocket clip is tight, but i shoved three .88mm guitar picks under it for a night and it got better. The lock breaks in but isn't as light as, say, a Spyderco. I use this for everything from camping to home repair to opening boxes and letters. I've cut a lot of coper wire (speaker, electrical) with it with no damage at all; I think I've sharpened it once and just occasionally strop it. Zero blade play. The aluminum handles have held up well with just a few minor scratches. If you've never had a Cold Steel and are thinking of trying one, this is a great knife that doesn't look like it belongs in a war zone.
