CS60ST: Cold Steel Custom Series Vintage Talwar Folding Knife

Cold Steel Knives

Have you ever dreamed of being able to harness the cutting and piercing power of a sword and distill it down into a folder small enough to fit into your pocket? That's the essence of our pocket sword, the Talwar. Like Saladin's legendary sword, it will cut, slash, and pierce with astonishing effectiveness. Notice the blade, it's hollow ground from VG-1 San Mai III, honed to razor sharpness and wickedly curved to facilitate the deadly draw cut. Additionally, it ends in a needle-sharp, yet remarkably sturdy point, so it pierces as well as cuts.

Designed by Lynn C. Thompson, the Talwar combines the sleek style of the East with the dynamic technology of the West. Using a Titanium frame as a foundation, the pistol grip handle features highly polished black linen micarta slabs with deeply carved finger grooves that allow it to settle naturally in one's hand for maximum control. And its curved shape allows for reverse, or palm-reinforced, gripping techniques. Additionally, a hard-hitting, ball-shaped pommel enhances the Talwar's versatility. Made from mirror-polished stainless steel, it can be used as a striking tool to deliver blows to bony areas, nerve centers, and other soft targets. It can also serve as a secondary grasping point, allowing its user to extend his reach by as much as three inches.

The Talwar's lock is designed to adhere to Cold Steel's most stringent standards of quality, with a state-of-the-art rocker lock that's peerless in the knife industry. It features extra-strong springs, super-tight tolerances, world-class machining, as well as some extra promising refinements that can only be called "trade secrets." These features, we believe, make it superior to any other lock on the market.

To keep your pocket sword secure and close at hand and ready for action, the Talwar is aided by dual mirror-polished pocket clips for ambidextrous operation and a unique removable thumb plate. The thumb plate allows the knife to be opened as it is drawn from one's pocket by snagging it on the edge of the pocket seam. It can also be used like a thumb-stud for one-handed opening operation.

Very nice vintage design!
I had been wanting one of these for years and did see a few on the secondary market, but no very common. Then Knifecenter had some new original ones for sale so I couldn't resist! A wonderful tactical knife to go with my Cold Steel Scimitar folder. It's a tactical knife work of art! Very beautiful presentation! The Persian trailing point design is both beautiful and very functional. Mine came razor sharp right out of the box! It feels real good in the hand and is not a real heavy feeling knife. It locks up real solid, no blade play up, down nor side to side! I feel fortunate to be able to obtain a new one of these now. The last time Cold Steel had these for sale, I was real young and didn't have the money to get one, then they discontinued them! An awesome purchase that will be handed down to my son! 👍

It scares Grandma!
EDC - blade shape makes it verry fast & easy to sharpen, it holds an edge well. The pommel makes it realy easy to pull out of your pockt & if you rotate the thumb stud 90 degrees you can use this knife with heavy inslated work gloves on!
