Description

CS35AP: 35AP Outdoorsman San Mai

Cold Steel

One of the best multi-purpose hunting knives ever made, this limited edition classic has been a much-loved part of the Cold Steel line-up for many years. Razor sharp, with a wide belly and an up-swept point for skinning, and a secondary bone-breaking edge on the spine for hardier harvesting tasks, the Outdoorsman will make short work of even the biggest game. The Outdoorsman's generous full tang is encapsulated in weatherproof non-slip Kray-Ex, allowing the knife to be safely used even when your hands are wet and bloody.

More icing than cake
This is an attractive looking knife but looks can be deceiving.A few things that have stood out once I actually started using this knife…1. The 420J2 panels are VERY easily scratched.2. The VG-10 core holds a pretty decent edge but it’s nothing special.3. The “bone breaker” is nowhere nearly as useful as advertised and is arguably more gimmick than an actual benefit. 4. For the price this knife should come with a nicely sculpted micarta or even G10 handle not the same rubber material found on the budget line.5. For the price you should get a Kydex or high quality leather sheath not a cheap plastic sheath.

Cold Steel 35AP Outdoorsman, not my first Outdoorsman, wasn't finished
Bad news. The blade is dull. The bone breaker is actually sharper that the cutting edge. I've never bought a Cold Steel knife that was not at least usably sharp until now. I will contact Cold Steel to see if they can fix it. Still it's a beautiful knife. I could sharpen it myself but I should not have to.
