Description

GB6069: Gator - Clip Point, Plain Edge

Gerber

When Gerber debuted their line of Gator folding knives in 1991, they were voted "Most Innovative Knife of the Year" at the Blade Show. The handle is made of glass-filled nylon and it's covered with a rubberized alligator skin texture for a tacky, comfortable grip. The lock-back clip point blade has a fine edge and is forged from 420HC stainless steel. Sheathed in a heavy-duty nylon case, the Gator is still one of Gerber's most popular folders.

Cons: None
I purchased the 1st run of the Original Gerber Gator in the 80’s
My first synthetic handled folder and made in the USA. Mine is nearly 40 years old and still holds an edge and the grip is still as soft and comfortable as the first time I held it.

Excellent knife, great value
I’ve had one of these for at least 10 years. I’ve taken it camping and on trips out in the field for Army training. Sometimes I prefer a knife like this that I can carry in a sheath on my belt instead of in my pocket. The blade steel of these knives is a great value. I’m able to get mine to a wicked sharp edge.

Cons: Handle Material
Handle wears out quickly.
This is a great knife except for one thing--the grippy material on the handle wears down quite quickly. I've had two now, carried them in my pocket every day and they only lasted a couple of years. Once that material has worn off what remains of the handle isn't much good. I wish they made this knife with a different handle.
