Blade lockup is great. Grinds are perfect, the edge is sharp, the action is fast, and the clip is discreet. However…it’s a bit of a bummer that they won’t do the larger version of this knife in D2, only the 8cr, because for my larger hands, the finger choil on the front is uncomfortable and a bit risky, and the clip can be a bit painful if I grip the handle with more-than-moderate force. Not really a problem with the knife itself, as I was willing to downsize in favor of D2, but something worth noting if you have larger hands. I guess that means they’ve got their sizing spot-on and really mean it when they say “Medium” or “Large”, unlike plenty of other companies with designs all over the board in terms of scale and correlating usability. Overall, it’s really great quality for the price, and despite the nitpicks, I can’t stop messing with it. It may not have a finger-safe lock, but the action and choice between the flipper tab and the thumbhole make it very fidget-friendly, on top of being strong, practical, and compact. I recommend it, especially if you catch it on sale. Most affordable hawkbills are made with much worse materials and even worse construction, so this little blade is truly beautiful and deserving of praise
