Becker Knife & Tool Designs

Ethan Becker founded Becker Knife & Tool in the early 1980's and set about designing, manufacturing and selling the industrial-strength tactical and survival knives that he had always wanted for himself. His products, the BK&T line, have gone a long way to making these now popular all-black knives in demand.

Mr. Becker spends as much time as possible in the outdoors testing a variety of equipment and knife designs, and also works to expand his primitive and outdoor skills. He collaborated with KA-BAR in 2008 and has reintroduced and brought up to date his best selling models.

BK-16 Short Drop Point Knife
Love the Becker/Ka-Bar Knives! However, each knife has its features that fit the function. I wanted an everyday carry/camper knife considering size, blade length/thickness, weight and the traditional Becker handle, and thumb stop, After owning several Becker knives, this is my evaluation. I've got the BK9 for heavy bush use, BK2 for a multi-purpose camp knife, but when I got the BK16 it was the Mama Bear too small for my hand and a little shy on blade length. Then after further research, I found the perfect camp knife...the BK10! It was the best fit handle for my hand grip, The blade length was better and the weight was spot on. I will customize this knife like the other Becker knives that I own. The blade coating is a problem that i will remove. The The BK16 will pass on to my son that will fit his hand better, but be the perfect camp knife for him.

A great idea ruined
I love the size. The handle shape is one of the best around. The drop point great. Overall this should have been one of the best belt knives in history. Unfortunately as done it sucks. The coating is heinous. It should have been a full flat grind. It could have been a touch thinner but that's splitting hairs. The sheath is absolute garbage. The handles while the best shape around are made from cheap hollowed out material. And held on by nuts and bolts. Overall I spent countless hours modifying this knife to make it passable and was still disappointed in the end. Come on KA-Bar. FFG. No coating. Solid handles permanently affixed. A leather or even a pancake "plastic" sheath all would improve and elevate this knife where it belongs.
