KS1220: 1220 Reverb Folding Knife

Kershaw Knives

The lightweight Kershaw Reverb is ideal for backpacking, camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities. With its lightweight design and no flipper or thumb stud to catch on anything, the Reverb is ready to go with you on your next outdoor adventure. The built-in carabiner clip makes it easy to clip to backpack or harness

The Reverb is a manual opening knife but can be opened one-handed thanks to the large machined recess in the blade. Just use your thumb to push outward on the recess and rotate the blade into place — with no protruding thumb stud or flipper in the way.

The Reverb offers a reliable blade of 8Cr13MoV that takes and holds its Kershaw-sharp edge for a long time. Its modified drop point blade shape is perfect for just about any task you'll encounter. Gray PVD coating on the grinds provides additional protection against the elements. A satin finish on the blade flats and on part of the back handle adds visual interest. The front handle scale is light-yet-strong G10 with a carbon fiber overlay and contoured for a solid grip.

For safe use, the Reverb has a secure frame lock to lock the blade open during use. It also features a built-in carabiner clip that makes it easy to attach to a backpack or harness for easy access. Alternatively, you can pocket-carry the Reverb. It's equipped with a special deep-carry pocket clip that allows for extra-deep carry so that even in an active outdoor situation, it will stay securely down in your pocket.

Features

  • Multifunction - Has multiple blades or tools, enabling it to perform multiple functions.
  • Manual - There is no mechanical assist, such as SpeedSafe, used to open the folding knife. It opens the classic, old-school way.
  • Frame Lock - A portion of the handle (the knife frame) moves behind the blade to lock it into position during use. This is a safety feature of the knife.
  • Single Position - The pocket clip is in a fixed position on the knife handle; usually it is positioned for tip-down, right-handed carry, though this may vary.
  • Carabiner Clip

Pros: Blade Sharpness
Cons: Ease of Opening, Sheath
Very nice small EDC for a very good price.
Over the years, I have found that a small, sub 3" narrow blade serves 95% of my needs. An inexpensive one is fine as I lose or gift them with some regularity. After many years of good service from a Natrix, I decided to give the somewhat similar reverb a try. The knife came nice and sharp, finish is quite attractive. The blade centering is very good. On the down side, even freshly oiled opening/closing is very stiff - combined with the small size, this means it is, for me, two hand opening only. It's possible that with use this may improve, but i'm not counting on that. For me this isn't a big deal. The small size along with the smooth finish of the frame make it a little "loose" or slippery feeling in the hand as one might expect. I'm getting used to using a somewhat tighter grip than I'm used to, so far no problem. I think folks with large hands might have a real problem, however. The carabiner spring interferes a bit with getting the pocket clip over the hem of ones pocket. I may try reforming the tip of the clip slightly. Despite my initial concerns, the carabiner cutout and spring do not seem to adversely affect grip comfort. All in all, if a very small knife fits your needs, I would say this is a very nice option, as well as being so cost effective. I like it.

Could be a 5 star but.
This is a very awesome knife lightweight visually appealing that G10 and carbon fiber inlay is very nice. But the lock on this is very awkward to press. If they fix that blade lock this knife would be a 5 star hands down. It is a great knife to add to your pack. That 8Crt13MoV steel holds a edge very nice.
