Smooth and Solid Kershaw Offering
I have always wanted a little karambit, but didn't want to spend over $100 on a novelty knife. Let's face it, if you need something like this for military purposes, you're going to spend more on a Fox Knives karambit or just get a fixed blade karambit. I've never pre-ordered a knife, but when I saw this release, I had to have it. For a little less than $50, this one is on the top of the cool factor. It goes in and out of the pocket easily, and the assisted opening is super quick and smooth, and it even seems faster than my Kershaw Blur due to the smaller and lighter blade. The flipper is easiest to open once it's in your hand, but the thumbstud is nice and big, so that works well too. Lockup is solid with no blade play in any direction. Sometimes budget knives don't come very sharp, but this one is crazy sharp along the whole blade and a needle tip that isn't too brittle. Some will complain that it's "only 8Cr13MoV," but c'mon, it's a budget Kershaw that's unique and under $50.It opens boxes really well cutting tape, as the blade shape gives you a ton of control. It is comfortable in both normal and reverse grip, though it's not really possible to pull it out in reverse grip and get it deployed with the same hand. The flats on the karambit ring are perfectly placed to rest your fingers on in reverse grip. Overall, the knife just feels solid due to the stainless liners and metal ring.In order to maintain that level of sharpness, I don't plan on doing much with this other than carrying it for the cool factor and for the 0.00001% chance I'd have to use a knife to defend myself. I live in a state where you can't carry guns (Hawaii), and it's overall pretty safe, but it's still a nice peace of mind to have this in my pocket. If you want a solid little novelty knife that you can actually use, that's built with decent materials at a reasonable price, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this one.
