Kershaw Knives

Timeless Al Mar Knives designs meet Kershaw’s precision manufacturing and meticulous fit and finish to bring you updated versions of some of the most iconic Al Mar Knives.

The AM-4 features SpeedSafe assisted opening for quick and simple one-handed opening. Just pull back on the flipper or push on the thumb stud. The blade is quality 8Cr13MoV stainless steel with a handsome satin finish and a top swedge. The front handle scale is G10 — crowned and polished for a smooth feel and classy look. The back is pure steel with a sturdy frame lock to keep the blade in position until you release it. The AM-4 also features a deep-carry pocket clip with Al Mar Knives red logo emblem and—for an extra measure of visual interest — they used red standoffs.

In addition to a dedication to the original designs, Kershaw kept two things in mind when creating these exciting Al Mar Knives: quality and value. Kershaw is using top-notch materials including top-of-the-line blade steel and real G10 scales. Plus, they’re paying special attention to details. Yet they’re keeping the prices down on these classic knives — which means these brilliant Al Mar Knives are now readily available to a new generation of knife enthusiasts.
Features
  • Flipper - The "flipper" is a protrusion on the back of the blade that the user can pull back on, or flip, in order to move the blade easily out of the handle.
  • SpeedSafe - Assists you to open any SpeedSafe knife quickly and easily with a manual push on the thumb stud or pull back on the flipper, built into many Kershaw best sellers.
  • Frame Lock - A portion of the handle (the knife frame) moves behind the blade to lock it into position during use. This is a safety feature of the knife.
  • Single Position - The pocket clip is in a fixed position on the knife handle; usually it is positioned for tip-down, right-handed carry, though this may vary.

8CR13 Stainless Steel

Cons: Pocket Clip, Ease of Opening, None
It's worth each dollar you pay for it
Wonderful EDC. I like everything: sharpness, handle feel, super fast opening, perfect weight and solid appearance. The size for a daily carry is just perfect. However I find two (very minor) cons: it is almost impossible to trigger the assisted opening mechanism with the thumb stud. No problem, because the flipper works perfect. However, if the thumb stud is useless I would remove it to make the blade look more elegant. The second has to do with the clip. Though it is a deep pocket clip, it reminds me of the first clips of this type that I saw 20 years ago (those produced by Gerber for the SLG 3.25 or the Presto, for instance). The clip does not make the knife completely invisible in the pocket. A small part of the handle can be seen. It is certainly very small, but noticeable. Just mounting the clip closer to the end of the handle would solve the problem.Apart from these two minor cons, the knife is just perfect. And the price unbeatable. Go for it!

Knife to carry when wearing formal clothing
Sexy, quality, sharp, frame lock, light, sharp, looks really expensive, durable, hides well etc. etc. people talk about negatives but reality is there are non on this design and quality build well above its pricing. Fantastic edc knife and you should add it to the collection. I have hundreds and this is in the top 10 carry knives that I like really, looks formal and deploys and folds fast and smooth. This is the knife you do not have on your collection euse this is a formal looking edc and most folks buy with tactical in mind blah blah blah. This one will fill the void when you are out on a formal occassion etc.

Pros: Pocket Clip, Weight, Blade Sharpness, None
Cons: Handle Feel, Handle Material, Overall Quality
Not that impressed
This knife will be part of my REC collection. The knife has a nice heft to it. The blade, though of average steel, has a great shape to it and was sharp out of the box. The handle only has G10 scales on one side which made The Knife feel a little cheap and the red lettering looks like it might wear off soon.
