The Oblivion is prepared to obliterate any cutting task in its path. With its industrial look, this modern folder is bound to impress in both style and performance.
For style, the Oblivion combines stainless steel and glass-filled nylon in a two-piece front scale - not easy to do. What's more, since the Oblivion opens with SpeedSafe assisted opening, there has to be a place for the SpeedSafe mechanism to go. Usually, it's positioned in a small, internal hollow in the handle. But to date, we had only placed that mechanism in single-material handle scales. With the Oblivion, for the first time, we integrated SpeedSafe into a two-piece front scale. The result is a unique "split profile" look, plus smooth, one-handed SpeedSafe opening.
The Oblivion's substantial 3.5" blade of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel offers top performance, too. This quality steel takes a sharp edge and re-sharpens easily when needed. And while the Oblivion's cutting edge is fairly straight, it also has enough belly to make it a reliable multi-tasking blade. The angular handle has been smoothed for a comfortable grip and a small finger contour enhances grip even more.
A sturdy frame lock secures the blade open for safe use. We also added an over-travel stop to keep the lock from moving too far - or "over traveling" - when closing. The Oblivion also features a reversible deep-carry pocket clip, or left or right-handed carry. A large, trapezoid-shaped lanyard hole adds to the aesthetics and makes it easy to secure a lanyard to customize your knife.
Packed with features, the Oblivion shows what a modern flipper knife can be. A value price just makes the Oblivion sweeter.
Features
Flipper - May be used on either manual or assisted opening knives. The “flipper” is a protrusion on the back of the blade that the user can pull back on, or flip, in order to move the blade easily out of the handle.
SpeedSafe Assisted Opening - Assists you to open any SpeedSafe knife quickly and easily with a manual push on the thumbstud or pull back on the flipper; built into many Kershaw best sellers.
Frame Lock - A portion of the handle (the knife frame) moves behind the blade to lock it into position during use. This is a safety feature of the knife.
Reversible - Pre-drilled holes in the handle enable the user to change either the tip position or the side on which the knife carries.
8Cr Stainless Steel
One of the most common budget stainless steels, it maintains a competitive combination of edge retention and toughness in its price range.

Includes a pocket clip for easy accessibility and a more secure carry.
Frame Lock

Kershaw 3860 Oblivion Assisted Flipper Knife 3.5" Two-Tone 8Cr13MoV Spear Point Blade, Stonewashed Stainless Steel and Black GFN Handles
I use this knife for EDC. I think Kershaw does the best job for quality control on their overseas made budget knives. Blade seems a lot more substantial than 3.5 inches. It even has jimping for your thumb on top of the blade. I've always liked Kershaws Speed safe spring assist. Has a decent frame lock that seems very secure. You'll have a hard time trying to find something as good as this for the price.

I'll make this short and sweet: for the money, the Oblivion is a truly fine folder. Is it the pinnacle of perfection? No, but I honestly can't find fault with it. It will have its detractors maybe because of its 8Cr13MoV blade steel, or some other niggling complaint, but its comfortable ergonomics and overall design and execution make it a really excellent EDC. I can't recommend the Oblivion highly enough. For anyone but a knife snob, this is one dang good knife. 'Nuff said.

Excellent design and quality
I bought an Oblivion to be part of a carry "rotation" along with a couple other Kershaw knives, as well as ZT, SOG, etc. It has been a few years since I last bought a new Kershaw, as most of their recent designs didn't appeal to me, but the Oblivion checks off several boxes for me: cool aesthetics, useful blade shape/length, tip-up carry, deep-carry clip, flipper opening and - considering that it is a Chinese build with 8Cr13MoV steel - a reasonable price point. No complaints about the build quality, either. Blade deployment with "SpeedSafe" assisted opening is fast and smooth, and the frame lock works perfectly. The factory edge is fantastic right out of the box. The visuals are more angles and lines than curves, which may not appeal to some, and it's not the lightest knife of this size by any stretch, but my initial impression is that it will be a great EDC addition.
