KU1040: Harpoon

Kizer Cutlery

The Harpoon is a collaboration between Kizer Cutlery and James Buckley of Maverick Customs. This compact fixed blade knife is perfect for everyday carry (EDC) or as a general outdoor utility knife. It features a 3.875" D2 carbon steel blade with a black powder coat. D2 steel is a very popular steel used on knives that can hold a great edge and is easy to sharpen. The harpoon-style blade has a swedge near the tip and a dip on the spine to allow you to rest your thumb or index finger for more intricate, detailed work. The tapered Micarta handle has a finger choil allowing the user to choke up on the knife. The Kydex sheath has two button snaps giving the user the ability to strap on his belt or gear.

Surprisingly Great Knife
I never buy knives made in China but I'm retired and on a fixed income and took a chance on this knife.I liked the blade shape and the size is perfect for EDC. This knife is a handy tool for day to day tasks like: cutting cardboard (lots of that), carving etc.The sheath retention is excellent, one could not easily shake the knife out. The straps hold the knife in my favorite scout carry mode.

Great knife, good sheath. Bad snaps on straps
This would be a 5 star addition for me if the straps and snaps were better materials. The straps had sharp fibers that actually drew blood. I cut and sanded them and they're better but have no give so it fits very tight on my belt. The snaps will give if the knife catches on something. Pull the dot snaps and leather straps would make this just about perfect for an edc fixed blade for me . HEY KIZER! I'd gladly pay for a strap upgrade!
