The LionBeat is a small accessory that is built along the same lines as the famed SR-1 folder - where the handle is a unique piece of natural material, to which the blade is attached. It's an all-around folding tool which can be used as a keychain folder, as a pendant for a necklace or as an accessory for a purse. Small, lightweight and stylish, it's the essential accessory of the LionSteel family. Besides, it's a real knife which, thanks to its lightweight and AISI 440 stainless steel blade, is ideal for a variety of different tasks with a very unique look to it.

Words from the Designer:

My name is Costantino Zanda, I live in Sardegna (Sardinia) south coast, more precisely in Arbus. I entered the 'knife world' when I was 16 years old, learning this art from my then-boss Francesco Pusceddu, who was a big teacher for me both on work and life for 15 great years. Unfortunately, Francesco died a couple years ago, so I decided to begin working on my own, focusing on artisan works linked to Sardegna tradition, as it is tradition which keeps identity alive. Among all my creations, a very important one is 'su Coru' (the heart), which name derives from the particular and elegant shape of this knife.

Great Knive But ...
This is a neat little knife. I got mine to wear on the other side of my watch chain when I'm wearing a vest. Nice grain on the wood, good fit and finish, but .....It wasn't sharp. Now I'm not saying it was only rough sharpened, like many knives today. I'm saying the single bevel was not cut to the edge of the blade. Instead of an edge, there was a nice round space that reflected light, where the edge should have been. The problem is the blade is so small, it's difficult to sharpen using any conventional method. After trying stones, Edge Pro, even considered the Tormek. I finally settled on some long nose vise grips to hold the blade and used a Ken Onion Work Sharp with the guides set all the way open. I was able to get a nice convex edge that is razor sharp. But it was a challenge.So overall I like the knife. It's sad that the maker didn't spend an extra moment on the grinder to bring the bevel all the way down to make it rough sharp!
