Description

LNROKDDGL: ROK DD GL Damascus Titanium Folding Knife, Gold

LionSteel

The ROK, designed by Molletta Design and developed by LionSteel, features two important innovations. First, it introduces the H.WAYL System, a LionSteel patent that allows the clip to ride flush to the frame while using the knife and can be pulled out only when needed. This makes for an extremely comfortable knife to hold and to use.

The second innovation is the NFC technology, which LionSteel added to the knife box. This way, you do not need to look for more information about the product, but the knife itself will give them to you. Care instructions, details about how it was built, or general information regarding LionSteel can all be found by scanning the NFC chip on the box.

Like the TRE, the ROK has the option to take the flipper away in order to have a knife that can be opened with one or two hands. This knife has LionSteel's signature solid titanium handle with the Rotoblock safety system. The locking bar is reinforced by a stainless tip so it can't be damaged by the blade. The blade is made of Chad Nichols Stainless Scrambled Damascus with a nice acid etched finish. It's a knife built to withstand tough use and abuse and look good enough for a night out on the town.

Pros: Weight
Cons: Lock Ease of Use, Pocket Clip
Myriad of features that are all problems..
So with all the great features on this knife lets go over each one. The pocket clip, it is a great idea but the execution is horrible. The clip gets stuck and it is very awkward to clip into the pocket with just one hand. The integral design makes disassembly a nightmare. The blade isn't polished, you can feel all the rough texturing which makes a smooth cut impossible. The final nail in the coffin is the bearing this knife runs on. They are like sand paper, with a really gritty sound and no matter how much you adjust the pivot, oil the bearings, it will not deploy without a substantial amount of wrist flick. Oh and the rotolock will engage when you don't want it to.For a 470 dollar knife I was expecting more, but I would recommend 100 other knife makers at that price point that surpass this knife without all the gimmicks.Big miss for Lionsteel, and this knife got an award at Blade Show.
