The Three Rapid Exchange (TRE) by LionSteel is equipped with a patented system that allows the user to carry the knife with or without the flipper feature choosing thus to screw or remove it from the blade. This marks the first knife to have a removable flipper mechanism. The knife has a fully machined Titanium frame, pocket clip and spacer. The handle is available in three different versions: a full Titanium model, a half carbon fiber or a half G10 model with Titanium frame lock. It features the IKBS ball-bearing pivot system to improve the knife opening and closing and gives the TRE knife an ultra-fast opening action. The user may choose three ways to equip his knife: a simple basic version without flipper and pin on the blade, a thumb stud version with the pin on the blade or adding the flipper for a quick opening action. The knife comes with an elegant and attractive wooden box equipped with a keychain with both Torx T6 and T8 bits for the positioning or the removal of the flipper, the thumb stud or the clip. Includes a pocket clip for easy accessibility and a more secure carry.
Titanium Handles
A nonferrous metal, it's prized for its high strength to weight ratio and is often used on higher end knives.
M390
A go-to option for premium knives. Made by Bohler-Uddeholm, this 3rd generation powder-metal alloy offers high edge retention and excellent stainless properties.

Semi-Custom or Mid-Tech knives are knives produced by a process in which the designer has more direct--but not complete--involvement; parts of these knives may still have been made by others.
Frame Lock
Developed by Chris Reeve, it functions like a liner lock but the lock is comprised of one of the handle scales. It's an extremely strong and easy to manipulate lock.

First of all, this is a great knife. I love that you can change things around to switch between cleaner lines or faster opening.The flipping action is very smooth and consistent. The lockup is solid with no play.The blade is perfectly sharp from the factory and has a very nice feel to it. The contoured edge is a very nice touch.The only issue I have is when using the thumb stud with my right hand.I'm right handed and find it nearly impossible to open the blade right handed with the thumb stud.I realized I could easily use the thumb stud with my left hand and I quickly realized that the natural right hand position has you putting sideways pressure on the blade while intending the flick it up. This pushes the blade against the detent ball and makes it really hard to open.Sadly I specifically wanted the TRE to use with the thumb stud only, but found myself having to keep the flipper tab on. It kind of defeats the purpose for now, but I intend on using this blade a lot so I imagine it will break in over time.

I bought this knife as a dress carry option instead of my more utilitarian beat-em-up knives I use for cutting things on a daily basis. Fit and finish is top notch, the knife is extremely sharp from the package, and the locking mechanism is secure and confidence inspiring. If anything, my only complaints are that it doesn't flip exceptionally well unless you break it in and lubricate the detent with teflon grease, and that the blue anodizing will scratch easily if you brush up against something hard like a granite countertop. Otherwise, I am very satisfied with this knife. I never intend to use it for heavy cutting tasks as I wear it more like jewelry than a tool, but I think it would hold up to hard cutting tasks well if put to use.

This knife designed by Michele Pensato aka Molletta is great piece to invest in. The titanium handle with smooth machined grooves gives a very satisfying touch. The blade steel is amazing. The IKBS is slick but not loose with just the right feel. With the interchangable options it is endless fun. This knife is truely incredible. If your looking for a knife to spend a little extra money on. You will not be disappointed.
