Description

MCU43C: MC-43C Katana Folding Knife, Blue/Purple Aluminum

Mcusta Knives

The design of this Katana folding knife is reminiscent of a classic Japanese-style sword. The modified tanto blade has a rounder profile and comes to a piercing point. The blade is made from laminated VG-10 steel with an acid-etched finish that is very similar to how the blade of a katana looks. The handles are anodized aluminum with several different colored grooves that bring to mind the look of a traditional wrapped ray skin handle that you find on a Japanese sword. The knife is deployed with an ambidextrous thumb stud and is secured via a subtle liner lock. The knife comes with a lanyard hole and a reversible deep-carry clip.

Gift for Wife
I purchased this as a gift for my wife. She loves it. It was better than expected. They've made some improvements to the design not reflected on the website. It was a pleasant surprise. The clip has been improved and is now tip-up. They've also added knurling/jimping for added traction on the edges of the handle. The liner lock is study and solid. This knife is a prime example of exquisite Japanese craftsmanship. The blade is beautiful, very sharp, and pointed. The name, katana, is very fitting for this knife, as it embodies the style.

detent issue
everything about this knife is great EXCEPT the detentthere is literally no detent on this knife, I mean a detent ball exists on the liner lock but it simply doesnt lock on the blade when closed. There are similar cases if you google "mcusta katana detent". NOT recommended for pocket carry

Mcusta balance
I carry this knife on occasion when a more tactical appearing knife would be inappropriate. This knife is very practical, very high quality and unique in my experience. Design, visual appeal, utility, and function are all excellent. The acute point is also quite unusual.Highly recommended as a gentleman's knife too.Minor detraction is relatively awkward opening, but very smooth, at least when compared with tactical styles.
