MKM Maniago Knife Makers
The Isonzo was designed by Jesper Voxnaes, a custom knifemaker out of Denmark, and produced by FOX Knives out of Maniago, Italy. "Produced in Maniago, Italy" is the theme of the entire enterprise for MKM, which is aptly named. This 'brand' is a collection of four of the top knife manufacturers in Italy working together to consolidate and strengthen their commercial contributions to foreign markets.
They've chosen to work with some highly regarded and sought-after custom makers to launch the brand and they've already made quite a splash. MKM won Knife Collaboration of the Year with Lucas Burnley and Bob Terzuola at the 2018 BLADE Show, while Viper took home Overall Knife of the Year with the SURU and LionSteel won the Manufacturing Quality Award for the third time in five years. A spectacular start, and one that confirms and fuels the mission of the Maniago Knife Makers consortium and the MKM brand: consolidating the value and style of Made in Maniago, by working together as a team.
The MKM Isonzo presents itself as a practical, compact everyday carry knife that you will not be afraid to use and abuse. Thanks to the aluminum spacer serving as an oversized lanyard hole, this pocketknife can be attached to your gear by means of a carabiner which makes it an ideal tool for mountain climbing or hiking. The short blade is made from N690 stainless steel and has a jimped thumb ramp for precise control. It opens with an elongated thumb slot or compact flipper tab and is secured with a stainless steel liner lock. The non-slip handle is made from synthetic fiberglass reinforced nylon with a textured surface and an ergonomic shape, offering a secure grip even when wet. The wire clip is reversible for tip-up left or right-handed carry and it buries deep in the pocket while remaining easy to extract. The Isonzo comes in a variety of blade shapes and handle colors; be sure to choose the right one for you.
no complaints, but. In the video of this series from MKM, DCA uses the upper fleshy part of his index finger to flip it open. Now DCA says he has slightly larger than average hands, and I assume such assessment applies to his fingers. So I respectfully call his right hand's index finger as being, well not just slightly fattier and fleshier than mine. In consequence of his comparatively fatter and fleshier index finger compared to mine, the knife flicks open in the video rather sweetly for DCA. Not for me. Not the way he flips it.However I do get excellent flipping using my index finger applying force just below the nail, my flinger slightly crooked at the distal joint. Which brings me to a recommendation. Jimping on the flipper tab would perhaps give me a solid flip when using the upper fleshy part of my index finger.
